last time the majority of the crowd had never heard the new stuff, this time most of them will. how you genuinely think that the crowd will 'politely' stand there beggars belief. i dont expect mass hysteria, homoerotic orgies or even a little bit of virgin sacrificing, but i'd imagine they'll sing along to the ones they like, go crazy for the ones they love and go take a leak during 'if the world'.only kidding. (they'll never play itw.)
You're deluded if you actually believe most people bought tickets to hear Axl sing songs off Chinese Democracy. Most people outside these boards have never bothered with the album. If they had it would be getting consistent radio play and Axl would be playing shows in the US.
Didn't they sort of play it in 2006 as an instumental before one of Dizzy's solos or something.
with thunderous applause...
They've perhaps heard Better, CD, and SOD but that's most likely it. There's going to be a lot of people just standing around with a WTF look on their face when Axl plays the CD material. I just hope the lack of reaction doesn't dissuade him from playing the new stuff every night. It would be a shame if he went back to 4 or 5 songs off CD and most of AFD.
That all seems a tad too unrealistic. I expect the setlist will be the same, more or less, every night and Axl will go on sometime after 11pm each night. My start time prediction is more for the Canadian tour though; I've no idea how the Asian and South American time change will effect Axl in regards to start time. I really think you guys overestimate how many people are really familiar with Chinese Democracy. I think you'll find that you will be in the distinct minority of people who are rocking out and singing along to the new material.
GNR is a nostalgia act for most concert goers. They are going to hear Axl sing Welcome To The Jungle, PC, SCOM, YCBM and November Rain. New songs equal boredom and piss breaks for most people. You can usually feel the energy at a show go down when a band goes from a big hit to some song off their new album.
