NEW SONGS BEEING PLAYED
« on: December 22, 2009, 07:31:22 AM »
I waited 10 years for the album to come out and can i say unlike most of the new gnr bitches, the wait was worth it. People sent me unreleased songs and i never listened to one of them, because i didn't want to spoil that moment when i walked into my local music store purchased it on CD for my HI FI and vynal, to collect. I put the CD on, layed on my bed and just took the whole album in. It was awsum and well worth the wait, every song amazing, Thanx AXL.
Also it amazes me that all the people i know who say it's a flop have the ordassity to admit to not even hearing it, HGow dumb and hypocrtical is that. The songs i am looking forward to live are riad n the bedouins and It will be amazing to here axl sing scrapped live, as all the voice parts are over layed and in such a wide key range. The guitar solo on there was a time has got to be the most amazingly writen guitar work on any piece of music ever, Thanx to buckethead and robin fink. WOW!

I get what your saying, I was just reading the newest Rolling Stone and they just completly trashed Chinese Democracy.  Which is pretty funny considering they had nothing but good things to say about it when it first came out, they even gave it four stars.  I guess the mark of a great album to them is only if it sells 20 million copies.   Who knows, I now see why Axl can not stand the press.
Just because your winning don't mean your the lucky one.

Your completley right. Every time a realy good album enters the world of rock It gets mixed reviews at first, it always seems to happen. Ive played bass for 15 years, I never pic up a guitar or the drums, just bass And with my knowlage of the instrument and listening to mr stinsons playing, There is no way i could not give it a rave review even without mentioning axls vocals / song structure. I think the people that slag guns n roses off either don't like the fact Axl's done it yet again or they have know knowlage of any muscical instrument. I thought the negative DR pepper marketing ploy was hilariouse, I knew he would prove them wrong and never doubted it for one second.

I understand completely.

When I hype GN'R all the times to my friends they all bash on the new lineup yet none have ever listened to CD fully or at all in some cases, nor have seen boots or DVD's from 06/07.

The band deserves more credit, Axl especially.

Axl deserves a lot more credit for songwriting and building than he gets such as for november rain and his use of computers for all the strings and just so on. THe music i guess just simply isnt mainstream at all which is a reason wjhy it is slagged off.

I see what you meen and understand. But what should be mainstream ? I always prefer techincaly challenging songs which is why i usually hate number one's in charts. I still think sweet child 'o' mine is an amazing song but if i had to decide i would always go with somthing like coma or break down as an example. People that dont understand rock music are uasually the one's that don't like albums such as chinese democracy. Most people i have met that don't like GNR, are massive fans of status quo, meat loaf or kiss. Im not saying they are not good bands but why do we talk about all of axl's/GNR albums ? Because they are amazing. It's like when somone asks who my favourate bass player is. I always say DUFF and the one's that desagree strait away either mention a bass player they have no idea what albums they have played on, or they don't even play an instrument them selfs. I suggest anyone out there who as actually listened to chinese democracy and still deos'nt like it, picks up a guitar and tries learning by ear a song like riad n the beduoins. Thats when you realise it's probably the album of the centuary.

I personaly think that the music displayed on Chinese Democracy is new, its fresh and its definitely not mainstream and its basically sidelined because of the constant comparisons with the old band.

I think Chinese Democracy is awesome, especially live. The songs are amazing played live!

Also, the diversity of styles in Chinese Democracy makes the album really like Axl said, a melting pot!

There have been negative reviews about even some of the best albums I've ever heard, none of that bothers me as long as I like the music. They could say its one of the worst albums of 2008 but I'm still glad I bought it.

I don't understand all the people that listened to ChiDem, knowing it's a new lineup and still expected it to sound like the ooold GnR.

Old GnR is old, new GnR is new, and I love the new Guns! :D

As long as this road seems, I know it's called the Street of Dreams.

i agree it is tough to decide what actually is mainstream, its mainly more radio friendly songs that are sung by popstars. I really wouldnt say the album of the century many better albums just i think it is better than the sales may indicate.

I agree, Chinese Democracy was one of the best albums of the decade, if not the best. When I see GN'R live (if they come to England in 2010) the songs I'll be looking forward to are the ones from Chinese Democracy. All the negative reviews didn't really comment on the music they were just comments about how long it had taken and how it wasn't really GnR etc etc. People I know who slagged off the new band now rave about Bumblefoot and Buckethead.
I also don't get why the press raved about Death Megnatic, which IMO was nothing too special yet slagged of Chinese.
I just hope that the press have got all the 'Slash isn't there" type comments out of their system for if and when the next album comes out.

It's kinda funny that people still even associate Slash with GnR. I think everyone just likes his top-hat and that he had a unique style and all. And now the new guitarists hardly get any thanks for what they do because people are bitching, sayin its not as good as how Slash played it... :/

This is sad but true.

Few of the people criticizing the new guitarists actually hear the absence of Slash. Although Slash was a killer musician the reason he was and still is loved by the so called general public was his looks. He looked unique, crazy and plain cool and that's what the people remember.

Now, I'm not saying you couldn't prefer Slash to the new guys based on his playing but the fact is that if Slash was to play the new material now the keyboard warriors dissing the current GNR would jizz their pants even if he did a far worse job than the current members. The hate for the current band has little to do with the music really.
