Practice or gigging?  What style of music are you predominantly going to be playing through it?

Before I get any of the details, my favourite amp (and I think BP's too) is a Peavey Classic 30.  might not be what you're looking for though.

What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

Of course it depends on what type of sound you're after but I've got a Laney LC30-II. Only a 30 watt but it's all tube & is mentally loud. Any gig I've done the volume hasn't been past 4/5. It's maybe not the best if you're looking for a really high gain american type sound but it's fantastic for a more vintage British metal sound.

I've had mine about 5 years & I think my local guitar shop had it for £430 but as I'm in there a lot I got it knocked down to £400 straight away & got a footswitch chucked in for no extra.  Cheapest I can see them about online is £424 but then you've got to think about delivery costs etc. If you're interested in one of them then I'd suggest going to a guitar shop & seeing if they can get one in and asking if they can do you a good deal

what kind of sounds can you get through this, nemo? Good for Hard Rock - think UYI records, Coma, Dead Horse, those kind of sounds.

Warm and rich and creamy like uh, caramel, or a butter sauce, or semen.  That's kinda what it sounds like.

Practicing I'd say no, gigging I'd say not quite either, it's maybe a little cleaner than what most people seem to think Slash's tone sounds like when they try to replicate it.

If you crank it enough you'll get an absolutely gorgeous fairly distorted overdriven rock tone out of it, but backed off a little it's maybe more of a 70's Stones/Grateful Dead style sound.  But with flying monkeys.

i might rule it off my own list then.

The two best amps ive played are the Marshall DSL401 - great for recording, more than loud enough for gigs in small clubs, venues, pubs and can be played with a nice sound at bedroom levels.

Orange Rocker 30 - great tone, esp. if you play a Les Paul like me, not sure about bedroom levels but but im sure it will sound good. great for gigging and rehearsing, gets very loud!

Faxl, id go with the marshall dsl401 - it's about £550, though second hand, ebay... im sure you could find one under your price range, then you can by a Slash crybaby pedal and a nice delay!

Hayden MoFo if you can get your hands one one. 30 watt all tube awesomeness.

It's a mini head but loud enough to gig with even through a 2x12...

There she is. Up on the top. Running through a Framus 2x12 CV30 and a Peavey Valveking 4x12 (which I'ma sell).
lol. :) your posts dude made my day:)
