Bring back Oh my god, Silkworms and Riad n' the Bedouins
« on: January 27, 2010, 06:45:28 PM »
this letter is directed to the members of Guns n' Roses as a request to bring Oh my god, Silkworms and Riad n' the Bedouins back into their setlists for the current Chinese democracy world tour... here are my reasons for my requests song by song...

1. Oh my god

this song was released as a rough demo for the End of Days soundtrack.. and even though it was a demo i believe that it is one one the best lyrics Axl has ever written.. it also has a very cool melody and rocks pretty damn hard... in the online chat with Axl back in dec 08 he was asked about this song and said he adjusted it little so hearing how the song evolved would be very cool..
Guns played Oh my god a few times since 2001 live and it sounded unbelievable .. and it would flow smoothly in their current setlist in between songs like shacklers revenge and other hard rocking tunes they play normally
I am assuming it was planned to be released on Chinese democracy until songs that become superior emerged ..but in mu opinion Oh my god ranks right up there with anything Axl has written in the past 15 years

2.Silkworms

Again another hard rocking tune that was played a few times after 2001 that would fit in very well with the current setlist.with very gritty in your face lyrics and awesome intro as well as a unique breakdown in the middle of the track make silkworms a very cool tune. another track that i "assume" would of made it on Chinese democracy but the following reason i believe they may have stopped playing it live or it making it to the Chinese democracy album
---- it was not that well received by critics and fans during the brief time gnr played silkworms, i feel that the reason behind the criticisms because of the shell shock of new members as well as the"shaky"vocals that Axl was criticized of having a "helium voice"... so i feel that with all the sucess of the current tour and how amazing Axl's vocals are now.. as well as the before mentioned internet chat Axl had with fans on the gnr forums that Silkworms was reworked a bit but not taking too seriously,,, i am sure i speak for the gnr fans in that hearing the new version with axls incredible voice would be very well received

3. Riad n' the Bedouins

it is the only track from Chinese democracy that gnr has not played yet... maybe they are waiting for the right time ..but again(like silkworms) the song was played briefly after 2001but was received as harshly as silkworm was and gnr stopped the song from appearing of their setlists in concerts after 2002...
Rhaid made it to Chinese democracy and was warmly received...i would love to hear the band play this song because of the intrigue guitar and the range in vocals Axl uses and the vocal melody through out the son
in closing these are just one persons request ..i would love to hear any of the three played live.. but will not be to upset if they are not... the current setlist for the Chinese democracy world tour is awesome..
including 92% of all the tracks on chinese democracy (except Rhaid) , a few illusion tracks and half of the appetite album including some wonderful covers of ac/dc ,pink floyd as well as others ,and the individual solos from each bandmate shows how proud Axl rose is to have such talented musicians to carry on the Guns N' roses legacy... i can't help but ask for any of these three tracks to be played at least a few times.

i'll stick my name down for oh my god. not incredibly fussed about the other two, but a more diverse set - not that this tour has been dissapointing - would be cool in any manner.

Omg would be very interesting live... but I'm in no rush to hear those songs, not before I hear Estranged and/or Civil War.
As long as this road seems, I know it's called the Street of Dreams.

Oh My Goodness is a wonderful track. I very much like it.
Would love to see it at some point.

Of course it's up to Axl and the boys.
If we're taking suggestions, how about "Garden of Eden". :)

More on topic, I love all three songs.  Would like to hear Riad first, and then OMG, then Silkworms.  However, I'd love to hear Silkworms in studio form!

Oh My God was a great song but the live version didn't come off as good when it was played, maybe it was because of Axl's voice at the time back in 2001.
As for Silkworms, I can go without that, My World has to be better than that although when Rhiad was played live, I didn't like it but then the album version came out and it was great, maybe the same thing can happen with this song too.
