Other Mods: Don't move this thread. I want it to stay here and for good reason.....

Take a good look here, people. ATTN: This is the difference between Slash and Axl.

Slash makes no bones about appearing next to the puppets and proselytizers for a quick buck.
This isn't rock n' roll, this is isn't rebellion, this is full-on corporate greed, prostitution, and self promotion.

Axl can be a dick no doubt about it and most of the time he does dick-ish things, but at least he has the self-respect
not to suck the tit of yuppie rich fuck American culture whilst jacking off the rednecks over in the midwest.

Or if you prefer... this recent late night debacle, Slash = Jay Leno, the lying, manipulative, scheming fuckbag whose convenient lies
are only swallowed by the weak or the stupid and good old Axl = David Letterman, sure he cheats on his wife and probably beats his
dog but the material he puts out is always top notch and he doesn't care to pretend he's not anything but pissed off when he is.

I lost a bunch of respect for Slash. I still love him but this seems desperate. I'm sure he has a reason (And I'd like to hear it) but I don't know why he's done this to his career. And thats not to mention the solo sounded terrible. Terrible.
As long as this road seems, I know it's called the Street of Dreams.

In a way I can see what you guys are saying about selling out and what would Slash do for self promotion.. But he IS releasing an album VERY soon and he is just doing what any other person would do to try and promote their work.... with the exception of Axl who for some reason never did any promotion whatsoever and thus why CD didn't sell as well as it SHOULD have. It's a work of art that deserves to be listened to by everyone, if only they put some effort into promoting it.

Slash is just doing what anyone who wants to push more people into his direction. He is out there, and hasn't stopped being out there. Axl on the other hand hasn't always been out there.

I am still very Pro-Axl over Slash, I am just playing the devil's advocate here since everyone is here hating on Slash.

Aside from on Twitter, he hasn't said two words about his album coming out. Popping up in random performances doesn't promote his album if his album isn't brought up in any way shape or form. It wasn't even HIS performance, he played for like 30 seconds?

He did pre-grammy interviews. Heres one right now:

Think you're reading into it a bit way too much but you're entitled to your opinion. Self-promotion? Uhh... duh... the man is a musical artist... What's he suppose to do? Hide away for years like Axl did? But anyway. I think he just showed up and did his thing at the Grammy's because he wanted to do it... Maybe that's just silliness and logic creeping in though. Not everything Slash does is like so bad or out to get Axl or anything negative like that.

He came out and played guitar because that's what the man does for a living...

livefree is spot on shinning that light on corporate greed.  and that is not rock n roll.  I think these days the greed is so camouflage'd that many of us think this is normal. Silver spoons, and/or rapid housing growth in the burbs some years ago sheltered thing going on? and/or just the corporate world has dominated sadly the last many years.

I'm proud of Axl for saying fuck you to VH1 and Mtv .....  puts him in a whole new rock star category.... up with greats who do the same.

What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

Axl: I said I'm going on ChiDem now and he said whatever & walked away other than that I've been busy.

Im sure Slash is plenty well taken care off, thus I would not consider this selling out. He is just doing his thing. He was at the top of his game when he did some work with Jacko in the 90's, would you say that is also greed and prostitution? He has a wife and kids and If I were him I would squeeze every cent I could out of the sleazy, unpredictable, cuthroat world of entertainment, and anyone who says they would not is a liar. I would say he likes to collaborate, with whoever, for whatever reason. Maybe he is a friend of Jamie Foxx, maybe he is a fan of the grammys, who knows, not me, not you, and who cares. He's not poor and he is not selling his soul to the evil underbelly of pop and prostitution by doing something he has done for years.

However, all that being said, Lets see what has happened to Slash in last 2 years, his second platinum selling band broke up, MOM DIED, and he can only stand by as he watches part of what he helped create propel themselves onto the next level, its like he's Steven Adler with some credibility. He seems a little lost and not quite himself right now, and has struggled with addiction his entire career. I wouldnt be suprised if we see him in rehab sometime in the future.

Way to beat a man when he is down. Axl's career was off track for about 13 years while Slash was putting stuff together and managing to stay relevant. The tides seem to be turning now, and kudos to Axl for getting his shit together, but Slash is not Axl, and it is unfair to call him a whore because he has been know to work with other artists, or make appearances at flashy events. That's what his job is, to make music and make money, for himself and his family.
