Buckethead left the band because he does not wish to be masively famouse or benifit from large amounts of money. Hence the quiet life he leeds out of the public eye and the caricature descise he invented. He is such an amazing player that if he was to stay in guns n roses he would of been famouse beyond his belife. He will how ever return for studio work in the future if the mood takes him.

Yes DJ'S live work is amazing and ron thal does well too in recreating some of bucketheads riffs on his fretless guitar but im sure buckethead did not leave because the album was taking too long

In regards to UcudBmine. slash is an amazing guitar player and always has stood out when live on a stage, his ability to also improvise is one of the reasons he is so required for so many guest spots as well as VR, snake pit, freinds.    Even though this is a new GNR. if your going to make comments like that. go cry some more, first of all this site is called CHINESEDEMOCRACY.com, which refers to the ''new'' GN'R, which also is the band I became a fan of. second, slash is a great guitarist, you won't hear me say otherwise. but he was pretty damn sloppy á la Finck. I just think Buckethead is the better out of those two. I mean, who can come up with a better solo for Nightrain than Slash? Exactly, Buckethead can.

I still think Slash is awesome, but I became a fan of Guns after hearing Madagascar and The Blues back in 2001.

The only show i saw slash fucking up was the show in St.Louis where the riot took place. He fucked up really bad on that show! Then again he was all drugged up and drunk.
Other than that he was 5 stars on every show

No one will ever replace slash, he was guns's number one guitar player. I just wish people would stop giving Axl such a hard time. He has salvaged the out standing name of guns n roses to the best of his ability. A name he has probabaly kept on because he feels proud to be apart of the magic and shear tallent it commands on a stage anywhere in the world. Slash is the best i realy do meen that. I am also not in anyway knocking the new guys, what they have had to do was very hard for them especially fortus, who's style of playing has so obviously been bassed on an apreciation of Izzy stradlin.

Sure.. we all know Izzy wrote a lot of those riffs but it was Slash's feel and his little bends, slides and holding that note forever which helped accent those songs.

And yes, you CAN hear a lot of that good shit in VR's releases. Contraband especially.

By that front though.. is it fair to say you can see Axl's talent for what it is on CD? And thats it?

These two gents were dynamic together. Apart, they don't seem to be able to get the job  or sound just right.

well i just did my homework about this subject and from what i can see Fall To Pieces was the only VR song that  was supposedly written while Slash was in GNR (and it sounds like a GNR song minus Axl) but according to Axl he did care for it, just a little too late

Which led to the trial period where Slash played the key bits of 'Fall to Pieces' but once I showed some interest that was over."

. as for the Snakepit record; that was pretty much the same. Axl didn't care for it right away and once he did Slash had already released it.

Snakepit probably would've been GNR's best album...Also Ashba, Bumblefoot, and Fortus are the best guitarists the band could have right now. All can play well and all have great performance on stage.

All the guitarists in Guns have been great. But, Buckethead leads that pack IMO. He's just too amazing

He prob. left because of a lot of things, not just that Chinese was taking too long. Hell, maybe there was no reason and he just left because he wanted to? I don't think we'll ever know exactly
