let's see, off the top of my head, you have your govt telling restaurants/vendors how big the chips have to be in fish-n-chips meals and telling them how many holes to have in the salt shakers... lol, you have cops that go around jiggling door handles and trying to open windows on private homes, then when they find one open they drag the people out of bed and lecture them... you are spending a billion dollars or so to put CCTV in tens of thousands of homes to make sure the kids eat the right food and do their homework and go to bed on time....  that's called being nanny-stated to death lol

If I'm being honest I've never heard anything about any of the things you've just mentioned.  I'm not convinced that there's any truth in them.

But we could go back and forward on this all day.  Our government has never made it illegal to use online gambling websites.  Nor has it then tried to apply that law to the rest of the world.  And we've never passed a law making it legal to detain people without charges for unlimited periods of time, or one that allows the government to listen in on people's phone conversations and read their e-mails.  Those things seem more terrifying to me than a load of cctv cameras on street corners that usually don't even have film in them.

Yeah, but once again, there aren't cctv cameras in our homes.  There are loads on the streets, and like I said usually they're not filming, but the claim you made about them being in people's homes is not something that any of us in the UK have ever heard of.  We did know (with honourable exceptions) about the wheelie bin chipping malarkey, but this one is just utter nonsense as far as I'm concerned.  You're actually gonna have to provide some proof this time around.

And now, your government is putting the chips on your dogs to prevent people using them as weapons.

haha.. you guys are like pre-schoolers who aren't allowed to play with metal scissors.

You have shown no wisdom and no balls so you should at least help the rest of us by showing us the effects of your cowardice. Pathetic."

If your government can slide anything your way and you guys just accept it, that sucks.

Its no wonder why you guys are NOT ALLOWED to carry guns.
THAT, was when they cut your balls off.

I'm impressed that you've managed to quote an NRA redneck who can actually write. Congratulations.

In the UK, some arseholes have thought of other ways (not new, read the Sherlock Holmes 'Hound of the Baskervilles' story) to hurt others in lieu of things which go bang and shoot hot metal. Two or three well trained dogs can be set upon someone and cause injuries so bad that the person dies as a result of blood loss. At the moment, there are massive loopholes in the law which mean that the owner/handler can escape prosecution. These new measures simply mean that owners/handlers are more accountable for the actions of their dogs. I am completely in favour of these laws. In some parts of London, some gang member just needs a dangerous dog and a concealed knife, and he's untouchable. I guarantee you wouldn't want to fuck with him.

Polar: Seriously, are you actually taking the piss with those examples?

No?

"Now the British government is proposing that dog owners be forced to get microchips and take out insurance for their pets."

They're proposing it, to a people who have no problem (as you guys have shown here) letting the government do whatever.

Lets say that in 5 years, the government deems it necessary for the safety of the people that humans be chipped. They come up with all these great reasons and benefits of having it done.

Would you guys be in for that too?

Wait.. you'd HAVE to. How could you say no? How could you guys revolt against the government?

You can't, and thats fucking sad. And its just like what the "NRA" dude said.. you guys at least serve as an example of what NOT to let your government do in terms of power and control.

I'm still cool with the accent on your chicks though. At least that.

^ I seriously doubt that people would be chipped in any way. I can't say it won't happen because I can't predict the future. It would violate absolutely every human rights law, and would be chucked out of the the Commons/Lords. Biometric data is currently kept on British ID cards, which are not compulsory.

Chipping a dog is slightly different to chipping a human, wouldn't you say?

Have you ever visited the UK? There's always some sort of protest or demonstration taking place.

Shawn, honestly what are guns going to do if our government goes crazy with power? If they ever do decide to completely ignore the people and impose a dictatorship,  I'm sure they will have the capability to withstand a couple thousand people armed with Tec- 9s marching at the whitehouse.

Any one who honestly thinks their right to bear arms still protects them from the government is delusional. They keep them legal just to give that illusion. You can continue to believe you are safe, but in reality for every gun you own there is 20 thugs to match, and for every 20 thugs there is a tank or missile, but good luck with your hunting rifle when anarchy comes.
