I say that because he releases an album and tours under the name, when we all know it is not really Guns N' Roses.  The band name is simply a legal piece of property.  It does sell more tickets, and it does sell more albums.  Then, he starts playing over 50% of the old songs during the tour.  WTF?????  I don't get it.

You also can't compare anything on Chinese Democracy to Slash because it isn't fair.  Axl had over 15 years to perfect his songs, whereas Slash took a couple years.  That being said, I still believe that Slither, Suckertrain Blues, Fall to Pieces, and Die By the Sword are just as good, if not better than the majority of songs on Chinese Democracy.

surely you can't make the claim that everyone knows this isnt guns n' roses in a debate where people are saying "this is guns n' roses" on a forum dedicated to the band guns n' roses. Surely this whole thread is a testimony to how wrong that statement is.

And axl owns that property. Glad to see you agree that this is guns n' roses.

Well, if you are comfortable with the name being a legal piece of property than kudos to you.  To me Guns N' Roses will always be the band who played the Ritz in 88, the Freddie Mercury tribute show, released Appetite, Lies, and the UYI's.  I think the majority of the general public feels this way too.  But oh well, nothing we haven't argued about hundreds of times.

so its a band with two drummers? that would be interesting. i'd assume you include TSI?? too? That means another guitarist too? I take it tracii et al werent actually in guns n' roses then?

the difference you and others fail to realise is that the truth doesnt have anything to do with what you feel.

Its funny how fans of Chinese Democracy are Axls sheep yet the main argument is hear from the other side is that the general public, I.E. the majority of people (masses) consider the old band the only "real" lineup, contradictory just a bit?. On top of that, they argue the band for the UYI tours was real even though Gilby and Matt were playing mostly other peoples shit.

Just say you hate this band and go to a retro gnr forum or something. It sucks Axl cant keep a steady lineup together but what are you gonna do? I love his voice and his soul, it really puts an edge on any music, it is the voice of gnr and cannot be duplicated. Sorry but that is how it is. Surely no one will mesh with Axl like Slash did, but they hit their peak 20 years and there is just nothing left for Axl and Slash creatively.

Slash has gotten over it, why do so many people keep hanging on? Surely if anyone were to have reason to be angered over Axl touring with the name it would be Slash, Duff, and Izzy. As far as I know they are at peace with everything, why must the "masses" keep dragging this out?

This is one of those rare moments in time when you and I agree D-man.  Well said. (Please do not feel obligated to respond to my post as I know how difficult it is for you to respond without resorting to childish name-calling.  But I wanted to let you know that I agreed with one of your posts).

Most fans, including myself, enjoy the music Axl's current lineup is producing. It's certainly better than most of the other stuff that's out there right now.  But I also think that most don't feel it's on par with the music created by the original lineup, where the chemistry between the band members was second-to-none, and the music timeless.

I think many still hold out hope that some day - perhaps when the band is admitted into  the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? - they will take the stage together again.  Who knows.  Never say never.

Ahh, I guess ill take it for what it is, but if you have  read my posts post drunken rant, you would see there is no childish name calling, and not much before, only major disagreements, but thanks none the less.

I think you misunderstood my point with the last line, I was saying that why do so many "fans" resent Axl for touring with the name when the only people who actually should  give a fuck(slash, duff, izzy), seem to have gotten over it.

P.S. Even in agreement your tone is still very disrespectful and patronizing, maybe look into changing that and people will lay off the unnecessary bashing. Not tryin to be a dick, just a word of advice.

I will never stop voicing my desire for Axl and Slash to perform again.  Their collaborations were the best rock I have ever heard.  Axl might be over it.  Slash might be over it.  However I am still not over it, and probably never will be.  I just don't think Axl and Slash are making better music now compared to when they were together.  Chinese Democracy, Contraband, Libertad, Slash's solo album - they are all decent, but not like the original GNR.

Guns N' Roses is Axl, Tommy,Richard,Chris,Ron,Frank and DJ- you can't have 1991 again, and anyone that has actually attended a show this year can appreciate the talent and chemistry THIS lineup has.Memory tends to suppress the bad memories and embellish the high points,a reunion is the last thing I would want.  :phrozen:
