I have to agree with Slash. It’s odd – you know, I used to blindly defend Axl and never understood why so many people put all the blame for the band’s split solely on Axl’s shoulders. I thought they were being unfair to Axl – afterall, Slash quit and Axl stayed with the band, right? Well, I no longer believe it’s this simple. After recently finding myself on the receiving end of one of Axl’s more vitriolic – and childish – rants, I find myself sympathizing with Slash. Axl’s “cancer” comment and angry obsession with anything Slash-related – such as his rant against me for exposing the Slash gear policy - is just sad.Just for the record – I continue to stand by my sources for the Slash gear story. The sources were highly credible, and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the "Slash gear" policy was definitely in place for the Winnipeg show. I can't say if the policy continued after Winnipeg - given the huge firestorm that erupted on the Net over it - but it was definitely there for the Winnipeg show. And the fact that Axl had no interest in speaking to the security manager who confirmed the policy to find out the truth – and preferred instead to shoot the messenger (me) instead - seems to indicate he too knew the story was true. Anyhow – all of this has given me a new perspective on Axl and GNR. If Axl can make over-the-top slanderous attacks against a long-time diehard fan – one who spent eight years building a forum to support him and help keep his band’s name and music alive on that forum when there was no news or album - over a Slash story – then it certainly makes me wonder about the kinds of things he might have done and said that drove Slash to quit GNR. Just my 2 cents.
Really dman? I swear I've just read a couple posts of yours saying you weren't having a go at madison and here you are pulling up a thread that hasn't had a post in over a month to attack her opinion.I find Madison's posts to be extremely ignorant and misinformed but I don't need to call her out on every single one. Let it die man...
Did he really say this?!!Who gives a fuck about integrity, eh Slash? He just seems to be more and more about money. Thankfully, to some, it's about more than just the dollar.
We know Slash has been suing axl behind the scenes
Are you for real? Axl uses the name Guns N' Roses strictly for money puroposes. If he called Chinese Demcoracy "Axl" it would have flopped even worst than it did. If he toured under the name "Axl" he would sell less tickets. If you believe that "last man standing" crap you are dumber than Axl thought.
Slash has been suing him behind the scenes because Axl refuses to speak to him. Remember Slash showing up at his house in the early morning hours of 2005? According to reports, he was attempting to discuss some royalty issue instead of it going to court. What did Axl do? Sent the housekeeper out to talk to him. I don't blame Slash. I'd sue him too. Especially since he wrote those riffs that Axl's "band" is now being paid to cover.
MOONEY - A couple thoughts I wanted to share:#1 - Slash going to Axl's house for whatever reason was a GOOD thing. They make their best music together. I think realistically we all know that is the case. There are a couple teenagers here who think otherwise, but to the general public, we all know Axl and Slash are best together. That being said he did contradict himself but he did go which I applaud.
#2 - Axl's rants were long winded, full of hate, and seemed like a story written by a lawyer with 17 years to word it properly without seeming like a power hungry ego maniac. Axl obviously wanted to control Guns N' Roses. He wanted to be the dictator. He wanted to replace players whenever he saw fit. He wanted to show up to rehersal whenever he damn well pleased. He wanted to put Paul Tobias (who is a tool) over Slash. He showed a huge lack of respect to the rest of the band and they had enough of his crap. He was the last man standing because they weren't going to stick around and kiss his ass. Axl has ultimate power of the band now, and prostitutes the moniker Guns N' Roses.
