Q: When is the last time you saw Axl Rose

Quote from: slash
Oh shit man, 1996......i guess, but i still think about him.  I was just thinking today that the biggest problem Axl and I have on a human level is that the press have instigated more shit between us than anything we ever did to each other.  I went to his house a few years back but we didn't see each other -i just saw the lady of the house.  He's one of two people i thought of when making my solo record:  One was Michael Jackson, the other was Axl, but i never called either.  With Axl, i figured it probably wouldnt be the right thing to do after all that time.......
I could wile away the hours

And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

its hard to imagine theirs as being little more than a human dispute, it gets blown out of proportion to such a ridiculous degree when in fact its two people that were together for a few years who now dont like eachother. beyond that, shit just got complicated.

Interesting. Slash is trying really hard to extend an olive branch, which is cool.

However, it's interesting that Slash is now trying to blame "the press" for the bad blood between them, which is quite a stretch.  I mean, c'mon Slash.  ...  But hey - I guess he figured if Axl can blame the press for absolutely anything and everything that's wrong in his life and career - as Axl always seems to do - then maybe he can extend that excuse to include their relationship.

Hey - whatever works I guess. If blaming the press for their problems helps get the two of them talking, then it's all good.

Really? Or do you think he's just giving an answer to a question he's been asked thousands of times.

I remember seeing some footage of lennon just before he was murdered; some guy in new york was asking him when the beatles were going to reform, john kept replying, 'tomorrow, man, tomorrow'. The yank didnt get johns sarscasm and kept going, "wow!! really.". It was very sweet.

My point being, after being asked a question so many time, you'll have prepared answers that keep people happy. If slash wanted to 'extend an olive branch' he could pick up the phone. Slash was asked a question and gave an answer; dont read anything in to a leading question.

Actually, if you followed the Beatles saga - you would know that Paul and John were together at John's apartment here in NYC within a year of John's death - and that a reunion wasn't that far-fetched at all.  Apparently, the two were together watching Saturday Night Live and saw the little running joke SNL used to make about offering huge sums of money if John and Paul would show up on SNL.  John and Paul were actually close to going down to the SNL studio that night - but decided against it at the last second.  So John's "tomorrow" comment wasn't that far off.  Just saying....

As for Slash's comment - this is the first time I've ever seen him try to blame the press for the bad blood between the two - and then complimented Axl by saying he was one of only two people he considered an album with.  Yes, Slash was asked a question - but he certainly didn't have to be cordial and complimentary to Axl in his response.

And yet you refuse to give Slash any credit whatsoever for trying to reach out. It's a shame. You know - believe it or not -  admitting Slash actually did something right or cool won't necessarily knock you off of Axl's Christmas card list.

You have a terrible penchant for hyperbole, which grows tiresome very quickly.

You seem to have formed a pretty skewed opinion of me and others. This is generally achieved by posting incendiary comments, waiting for people to attack the position (although admittedly many folk have attacked you personally) and then claiming some sort of moral high ground. I wouldnt go so far as to say its trolling, but its easy to invent a forum of slash hating axlites in such a way.

Attempting to change the subject by making personal attacks against me isn't cool, especially for a mod.
And at the end of the day, you didn't even respond to the points that I made in my post. Why is that?

Being respectful toward members, rather than making off-topic personal attacks,  and staying on topic in a thread makes a debate far more interesting. As a  mod, it's a shame you haven't learned that by now.

And yet you didnt respond to my points either. Your points were part of what i was describing; and low and behold you then went on to claim the moral high ground. The reason i didnt respond on-topic is because i had a mini-epiphany. MrSnake also highlighted your tendency to passive aggressive projection when this gets picked up on, which is shown here once again.

I'm sure you'll claim this as some sort of personal attack, thats your prerogitive. However, you did very well not to get riled by the numerous very rude posts when you first came here and i see no reason why you shouldnt here. If you keep playing to this same script, however, people will become wise to it and you'll become a parody of yourself.

the beatles reference was just that, a reference. If you want to claim that cos john and paul considered a reunion then fair enough. If you want to say that because they did that it has any relationship to guns then id say you were strainin to do some explainin. Tenuous to say the least, and a fine example of your tendency to hyperbole.

You've done this to a few people already; i know you're desperate for some forum wide vitriol towards slash, but you wont get it and certainly not from me. Somebody questioning your views on something slash said does not equate to hating slash.

Making personal attacks against members is juvenile. Not my style - never has been.  This is particularly true for a mod, who should show leadership and maturity when they post and not resort to name-calling and personal insults when someone posts an opinion that doesn't mesh with theirs.  It's called - being respectful.

Only if you can do so in an intelligent, respectful way. If not, please don't bother responding to my posts.

My friend, you were the one who brought up the Beatles analogy, and I was just showing how your comment was flawed. I never suggested your analogy was directly related to Guns  - any more than you were suggesting in your post.

2Na - I was simply asking why you refuse to ever give Slash credit.  If he disses Axl, you trash him, and if he compliments Axl, you bash him even harder.  I was just asking why.

Tell me honestly - If Axl came out tomorrow and said Slash was his best friend again, would you then suddenly  acknowledge Slash when he does or says something positive?

.. This is where you and I differ:  I believe in looking at situations and statements objectively, and giving credit where credit is due, regardless of whether it's Axl or Slash.  I don't worry about scoring points with Axl or Beta - I just express my views the way I see them.

hyperbole and sermonizing again.

ignore option is a wonderful thing. before i do so i'll leave you with a thought re. your final statement. i've never had any contact with anyone in the guns camp and am not out for anything from them. however as Nietzsche said, "when you look in to the abyss, the abyss looks in to you"

honestly this kind of response is nothing new from Slash    .. its not a first.

and madison... you certainly don't know our fishy at all     and why the hell do you keep bringing up Axl and beta in every single conversation?  Why do you honestly think members here are trying to please Axl and Beta while posting?   you are the only one talking about them when others are talking about something totally different yet you are ignoring their points.

Did Romano whip you that hard over there?  :D
What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

Axl: I said I'm going on ChiDem now and he said whatever & walked away other than that I've been busy.
