Azoff's company files $1.8M suit against Axl
« on: March 26, 2010, 12:46:10 AM »
I hadn't seen this story posted, and thought it was interesting.
I have to admit I don't think it's wise for Axl to be messing with the most powerful man in the music industry.  As most of you probably know, Azoff's Ticketmaster recently merged with Live Nation - which basically combined the country's largest ticketing company with the nation's biggest concert promoter - effectively giving the new megacompany control over everything from managing artists to booking concert halls. Clearly, Azoff is not someone you want to anger if you have any interest in touring in the U.S.

Your thoughts?

Here's the story and link:

Manager Has $1.8 Million Axl to Grind with Rose
Posted Mar 25th 2010 4:00PM by TMZ Staff

Axl Rose has allegedly been hogging some of Guns 'N Roses' profits -- and now one company says it's looking to get its hands on his money, honey.

Front Line Management claims it was hired to be Axl's personal manager in 2008 -- and was promised a 15% cut of all the cash Guns N' Roses raked in ... but never got a penny.

In the lawsuit, filed in L.A County Superior Court, Front Line claims the band made in excess of $12,470,000 while performing throughout Asia, Canada and South America.

The company says it wants at least $1,870,500.

Calls to Axl's people have not been returned.

Well a couple things I see ... not that I'm right but pointing out...   that

1. Wasn't Azzoff fired before South American tour?  isn't it still going?  How can they reach that number?

2. He is already knocking on the door when the tour isn't even done yet?

3.  Is this profit?  Seems early to be knocking on the door during a tour. I mean maybe he is demanding money before everything is determined.

    Does his company deserve that much?  Did they do everything they were supposed to?

ps.  Ticketmaster/cc/livenations merger is one of the worse things that ever happenned to music... even before the merger they fucked us all. I don't care about them. and I don't need Axl and co. sucking up to them.  Look at what PJ has accomplished with not complying with them so much and even record companies.

What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

Axl: I said I'm going on ChiDem now and he said whatever & walked away other than that I've been busy.

I can't really comment on this because I don't know much about it, although I do remember the management change taking place, but didn't know the partnership had ended

1. Axl and Guns N' Roses didn't tour between July 2007 and November 2009...therefore 2008 only contained the release of Chinese Democracy, no videos, no nothing...just the album. Surely he's talking about profits from this as opposed to touring profits??? I can't imagine how a concert promoter or manager is entitled to a 15% cut of an album he had nothing to do with. In fact, if he was management, then he failed his job....because it was badly promoted as far as I'm concerned, especially in the UK. Sure it went to No 2 but with promotion it could, and should, have been at No 1

2. I hope this doesn't mess up touring plans for the next couple of months

3. Pearl Jam almost ruined their career tackling Ticketmaster. Fact is, if a big arena band want to tour in the US and don't just want to play for free, then they have to go through Live Nation/Ticketmaster....one, or the other, or both....and I think you have your reason why Guns N Roses are not currently able to tour the US. They prob want too but there's no one big enough to rival these guys who would fund them.
I've been gone a long time, but I'm glad to say I'm back, because whatever happens in the outside world I'm still a Guns N Roses fan

Absolutely, in the first Axl tweets he said they were there (Asia) yet again without any form of management or what so ever.

My guess is TMZ & co is up to something since the airport incident... I said it before and I really hope I'm wrong ... but I somehow see a link between the slash t'shirt shit, the throwing shit during the gig's and the so called riot claims etc... It's almost like they are trying to mess things up but failing big time to do so ...

15% of overseas touring revenue? Greedy TicketMaster/Live Nation bastard. He should have been sued for doing the Best Buy deal, failing to promote properly  (see AC/DC's Black Ice on how to promote an album and for gouging fans on ticket prices for years. So that'll be 15% on a verbal agreement and no doubt a 10 per cent service charge. Cunt

This got axl no 5 on my yahoo trending now list!

Madison, wise or not, you must understand by now that Axl really does not give a shit who he fucks with, right?

According to a few sources, it was an oral agreement, so me thinks Axl will end up keeping the 2 million that money grubbing Azoff is pursuing.

As for touring the U.S., you have a point, but Azoff is not a dictator. If guns can sell in the U.S. I am sure Livenation will get their greedy hands on the rights. This suit seems to be about a personal issue between Axl and Azoff, not about Live nation and Axl.
