This article on Slash appeared in the May 8 edition of the Times, where he's asked about a reunion.   I've highlighted in bold the part that talks about a reunion.

Slash on... Guest list The Guns N' Roses guitarist had drugs advice from David Bowie
Interview by James Jackson
8 May 2010
The Times

"So I was at this do and there was Keith Moon. I'd seen Tommy a zillion times, and I got him to do Uncle Ernie for me." The guitar-gonk deity is recalling yet another prime anecdote, this one going back to when he was a Mowgli-like scamp on the 1970s LA scene. The man is more rock'n'roll than the studioful of Gibson guitars in which we're sitting. At 44, he has long transcended his niche as a speedballing Guns N' Roses hellraiser (the memento from those days? A permanent pacemaker-defibrillator unit) to become a walking emblem of guitar idolatry. These days he doesn't need a lunatic frontman to get him gigs. "One thing about a solo record is that I can do what the f*** I want!" he laughs quietly.

With Axl Rose and Scott Weiland, the sacked singer of his former band Velvet Revolver ("Being in a band with him was brutal!"), gone, Slash has chosen the safer vocal talents of Black Eyed Peas' Fergie, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and the genial Iggy Pop to sing against his fretboard heroics on his debut album. But wouldn't he ditch it for a Guns N' Roses reunion? "I can't imagine Axl wanting to do it. There's a lot of discord there. But God knows: cosmically, something might happen. You never know."

Slash is out on May 10; Slash plays Download on June 13 ...music British rock I was raised on British rock'n'roll. As a kid growing up in Stoke, it was all like Over Under Sideways Down by the Yardbirds, Sunshine of Your Love, Whole Lotta Love, You Really Got Me, Sparks by The Who, that kind of stuff. Those are all great riffs. I could go on for days on this.

American rock When I moved to the States, I was into the Doors and all this great music that my mum had — she had eclectic tastes. But when you get to being about 14 you start to discover your own stuff. So it was Back in the Saddle by Aerosmith. That was off Rocks — the album that set me in the direction that I'm in. I first heard it in about 1978 and it just changed my life.

...life lessons David Bowie Us rock guys are hard pressed to give other people advice. It's almost like you feel sort of humble to be like, "Here, take it from me!" I mean, what the f*** do I know?! But I did get advice from David Bowie at one point when I was really deep in my drug thing in 1989-90 or something. He basically gave me a philosophical look into where I was, mentally and spiritually, saying "You are exposing yourself to the darker realms of your subconscious being." He felt obligated to share some of his wisdom with me at that time, which was very handy. I was desperate.

Domestic life We're a rock'n'roll family [he is married with two children] and definitely a bit different to all the other families at our kids' school. Where I have a problem with who I am and having children is when I have to interact with the domestic stuff that kids have to do, which is school and teachers and parents at school functions. Still, from years and years of being an outcast in my childhood, it's hard for me to adapt but it turns out parents are actually pretty cool.

...films The Getaway (1972) I'm a big fan of late Sixties, early Seventies films and this one's a great action movie; Steve McQueen was f***ing phenomenal. Harold and Maude (1971) My favourite movie when I was a kid, which still holds up today. A suicidal rich kid who falls in love with a 90-year-old woman. It was just great, all the little murder and suicide scenes when he chops his wrists up. There's also Jaws, The Exorcist [the list goes on].

...hobbies Snakes I still have an anaconda — he's now going on 5ft. Good personality. My favourite snakes are reticulated pythons, green tree boas, African rock pythons ... I had all of them but when my first son, London, was born we got rid of all 80 snakes, and knowing my kids now it was a good thing. I had poisonous snakes — a king cobra, a red spitting cobra, baboon vipers. It was f***ed up!

Model monsters I love putting together models, usually monster stuff — creatures, characters from movies such as Frankenstein, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, whatever. I used to do it all the time but now I rarely have time.

GT racing Since I've been sober, I've been going out to the track and doing Grand Prix-style racing, GT racing. All over the US. My wife bought me tuition for racing school years ago, and I just never sobered up enough to use it. So the first year I was sober, that's what I did.

Poker I play tournaments. I suck. I'm terrible. I last about two hours. I have no patience. I wear the shades and hat — it keeps me from having any kind of distractions. I like it but I have no aspirations to become a great poker player. I'm not really great at anything except the guitar. For more Slash — talking Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Fergie as the new Axl, and bumping into Scott Weiland again — see timesonline. co.uk/music Interview by James JacksonBowie told me I was exposing myself to the darker realms of my subconscious.

Honestly, I think everyone knows, anything can happen.  Might not be very likely but hey I know if it happens I will be there.

Why was this thread moved?
When Slash said "Axl is phenomenal," the thread stayed in the main section and wound up going 13 pages.  But when Slash talks about Axl and a reunion, it's moved?  I'd appreciate an explanation.

Well, you know nobody knows Slash personally, so he really could be a liar who's full of shit. But if I try to judge in a neutral way, it seems like he managed to close a chapter of his life which Axl didn't have the time, heart or desire to come clean with.

Some of the lyrics on "Slash" simply say "Dude, I've got no hard feelings, please take the time and think over your point of view".

On the other hand, why would Axl fight his way to the status quo and then go back to the way it was? I wouldn't do that and I'm quite sure that Axl's not the kind of guy to do it. Bottom line's that I've got very much respect and admiration for both of 'em. And  of course they've got a minute or two to get on the internet and visit forums.

And as for some members 'round here... if I was Slash or Axl and come here to read some of this occasional slander and discrediting arguments, I'd be pretty pissed for a second & if I had an account, you could be sure to know about it, if you know what I mean.

ok i did not move the thread, but when Slash was speaking about Axl, thats news about the current band/lineup. When slash is talking about a reunion he is talking about the 'old' lineup getting together, now if Axl mentions a reunion that will stay in the main page as he is a current member, but i dont think we will be seeing that anytime soon. Hope that sort of clears things up for you, sorry if this forum isnt moderated the way you want it to be.

Funny how they try to come up with new answers for the old reunion question. I wonder what the new members would think about an old GNR reunion? Ron and DJ probably wouldn't mind all that much. They might even be excited to see the legendary lineup back together. But what about Tommy and Richard? They've been in GNR so long that it's understandable if they don't see themselves any less integral to GNR than the old members. Dizzy would of course stay in GNR if a reunion happened, but what would happen to Chris Pitman? He isn't a replacement for anyone...

Then again Ron isn't technically a replacement either (for anyone of the legendary lineup). Wouldn't that be a strange reunion lineup: Axl, Slash, Duff, Bumblefoot, Izzy, Steven, Dizzy and Chris!  :retard:

Not to beat a dead horse - but how is Slash saying "Axl is phenomenal" more "newsworthy" to stay in the main section than Slash's latest comment about Axl and a reunion?  I just think you should be consistent:  Either all Slash threads that talk about Axl are moved or none are.  But randomly picking and choosing which threads to move, based on a whether a mod likes the person who made the thread or personally likes the topic doesn't seem very professional for a mod. jmo.

I appreciate you offering a polite response, which is more than I got from the mod who moved it. I realize you aren't the one who moved the thread - but the decision reflects all of the mods.  Just saying..

to be honest there is nothing really that news worthy in there, Slash has mentioned a few times before he would be happy to do a reunion but if knows Axls feelings towards him are not exactly friendly. Again sorry you are not happy with the moderating, but lets be honest there were many people unhappy with yours, but it didnt change the way you did it. Until Axl confirms he is ready for a reunion, all posts about it should really be contained to this part of the board. Any artist talking directly about Axl or the new band would get the topic on the main GN'R page.

And this from a different interview

CourierMail.com.au: Has the book at least stopped people asking if you are going to reunite with Axl Rose in GUNS N' ROSES?

Slash: It slowed down considerably when I put the book out, yes. It really does spell it out. You'd have to be an idiot to not get it, but there's still obnoxious people who insist on perpetuating that myth. All things considered, I'm really flattered the band has this stigma, this ongoing mystique attached. I try not to get too agitated. There's this newer generation of GUNS N' ROSES fans who never saw the band — it'd almost be nice to get it together to do some shows for them, but it's just not logistically going to happen.
