New Van Halen Album Coming?
« on: July 03, 2010, 10:22:10 PM »
A new Van Halen album is reportedly in the making, according to reports.

Melodic Rock posted this about a possible new record:

"It's been a while since I reached out to one of my best sources of Van Halen info over the years, but it had to be done. And I got the information I was hoping for - independent confirmation from a long time source I trust that Van Halen are indeed working towards finishing recording of a long awaited new studio album with David Lee Roth, set for release sometime in the first half of 2011.

"A single is slated for release before the end of this year, but exact timing still remains very much up in the air. I'm told the relationship between Eddie and Dave remains as complex as ever, but there is a definite desire to get a new record completed."

If a new album does indeed materialise then it would be Van Halen’s first studio album of new material with Roth as frontman since 1984’s 1984. It will also presumably mark the recording debut of Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang on bass after he replaced Michael Anthony before the band’s reunion a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the report to PlanetRock.com.

Exciting stuff, I hope it's true. I was actually just wondering about them the other day too.

I wouldn't hold your breath in regards to seeing them in the UK though.

One wonders what the fuck is going on. No leaked reports have been heard out of their studio (5150) like the whispers that accurately predicted the reunion with Roth even after all the failed comeback bad blood. I'm not even sure whether Ted Templeman is on board, or what. Does anyone know. i think he would have just finished up the Doobie Brothers album. ever since some appearances in Guitar World and such with his son Wolfie, Ed hasn't been heard from and neither has Dave. Last I heard from the tour reports and stuff they were still getting along, and thank fuck all the Sammie shit is over for good. The VH site no longer even acknowledges their (he and Cherone's)existence(!), listing just the 6 classic Roth albums... Roth and the Van Halens have known they had to do this for the better part of 25 years, both their careers have been in the shitter since Your Filthy Little Mouth and, oooh... 5150, respectively. how many times have they recorded some idea inspired with the missing other(s) in mind and stashed it away just waiting for the day (now)? Can't wait to hear the follow-up to 1984.
