The Road to Anne's 28K Cd.com Run
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:06:04 AM »
So.. here's the deal. Sponsored by cd.com(in a cd.com top) I shall run 28K, from Tjøme to Tønsberg before I move to the U.S in 9 days... The exact date of the run will be up as soon as I decide. A few of my friends have volunteered to film and take pictures and follow me by bike...( this will most likely not happen though, they aren't exactly sports freaks like myself, and, well, 28K on a bike is far too). I will bring my camera regardless.  :shy:

I estimate that this will take about 3.5 h, as I am not in marathon shape as of now. My route: click Beautiful scenery... can't wait.

Total Travel Estimate:   27 minutes   /   11.87 miles

I assume you're taking a slightly more meandering route to do it?

Ooops. Plotted in the wrong adress. I'm starting at my house, not downtown, I live 8K from the center. Fixed the link.

17.60 miles

anyways..

Update numéro un;

Yesterday after work I set off to run 15K in the 'sizzlin' afternoon sun, halfway through I thought; My God, this is only half of what I'm going to be running. So I ended up doing 16 kilometers instead. Now, I was tired after a long work week/weekend, but I filled up my brand new drinking belt with water and fruit juice & took it easy. 1h 50 min to complete, including a 5 min stop at work(had to drop of an iPod cord). I took two detours to make my run longer, just for you guys.

My new drinking belt that I picked up yesterday.. Sort of uncomfortable at first, but I got used to it.

Hot as hell.

The aftermath: My right leg is fucked up. I think I must've pulled my hamstring when doing ab exercises(i.e kicking pretty high up)...running made it worse. I walk like I have a stick up my... I'll be fine by tomorrow. Aiming for 17K.

edit: trying to get the pics smaller..

I did a fast 5km last night, tried to run it at 100% (yet strangely I felt afterward that I could have kept running quite a bit longer, or alternatively done it a bit faster) So I went back out to do another, gentler one today after breakfast and I had absolutely nothing in my legs at all.  I had to give up after like 3k and walk the rest of the way, I felt like I was gonna fall over or something.  T'was rather odd.

Anyway, I don't really think I could do 28k, I think probably 10 would be my limit at the moment.

Yeah, maybe it was just a runners high. I get them all the time, even after I've maxed it on a 10K(my best time is 45min) I feel like I could run several kilometers more after. You didn't get enough rest, maybe? After doing the same amount of exercise I find that I can still wake up feeling beat one day and fantastic the other. Dehydration etc can also be the cause. Also, if you do it at night, you might need a full 24 h to recover, fill up your glycogen again. If I run a 1.5 h run aroun 10 at night, I often feel like it's harder running early the next day.

I've been running 10ks for a couple of years now, I've had maratons in my head for a while so this is taking the next step towards one. In no way will I be able to get a good time on this though. Finishing will be an achievement.

When did drinking heavily, smoking and doing drugs go out of style with the kids?
