Alan Cross of ExploreMusic recently conducted an interview with original GUNS N' ROSES and current ADLER'S APPETITE drummer Steven Adler. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.

On his newly published tell-all autobiography, "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses":

Adler: "I'm on tour with my band ADLER'S APPETITE [right now], [and] when I get home after this tour, I'll build a big bonfire and I'm gonna take this book and I'm gonna throw it in there. Because I wanna leave the past behind. That's the past — it's over, I've lived it, I've experienced it. I need to get rid of the past to move on to the future. Maybe 15 years from now I'll write a new book and I'll be a little bit more happy. [Laughs]"

On his relationship with GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose:

Adler: "I love Axl, I wanna be a part of his life again. I want him to be a part of my life. We're brothers, and we'll always be brothers. But you know what?! Brothers fight. You might not always like your brother, but you're gonna love your brother. And even Axl, him and all his lawyers or whatever, he can't take away what we [the classic lineup of GUNS N' ROSES] had — what we still have, since there's five of us and we're still alive and we still can do this. But he can't take that away — he can't take it away from the fans, from us... not even from himself."

On the possibility of a reconciliation with Axl:

Adler: "I know if we can just get the five of us in one room, it's gonna be nothing but hugging and crying. 'I'm sorry, I love you.' It's just a matter of getting in that room."

Fans can get "Alive", the brand new single from ADLER'S APPETITE, for a limited time when they buy a copy of "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses" before October 27, 2010.

In "My Appetite for Destruction", Adler tells all, fearlessly addressing his struggles with heroin and crack addiction; his financial ruin after being kicked out of GN'R; his shattered marriage; and the severe health problems that nearly claimed his life on several occasions.

Steven finally appears to have beaten his epic twenty-year addiction. He has remained clean and sober for the last few months under the watchful eye of family friend Dr. Drew Pinsky.

The first thing Steven was determined to do after cleaning up was to set the record straight. He wants to do this, first and foremost, for all the GUNS N' ROSES fans who have never abandoned him. But "My Appetite for Destruction" is a shocking revelation for anyone who is interested in discovering the truth about what really happened during the meteoric rise and devastating collapse of one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

I still think Steven fucked up and hes trying to get back together with the old guys because hes got nothing else, its always been that way. He has lived off of the Appetite name even though those other guys have a lot more going on since they left GNR then he does. Hes really just has nothing to show for all this time since he was kicked out than drugs, his band (which isn't that great) and the title of 'Original GNR Drummer'.

I think hes a nice guy but I don't think hes going to get what he wants, that being the guys back together.

Usually I find Steven's comments self-promoting and annoying, but that was a really cool interview.

But that bit about brothers is spot on. Call it naive, but I think that the original lineup could reform, but seems to me that there's too many
personalities inbetween each party to actually do that. Too many opinions, too much bias. If there were a logical objective third party, then that could do wonders.

The thing about these situations though is both parties need to want it and it seems that both sides are far from that.
Hopefully Steven can find success in whatever he does though, I think he has his head on his shoulders about the future and letting go of the past.

Anyway, rambling aside, cool interview!

i get what you're saying, but listening to the interview it seemed like he was genuinely in a good place. he seemed happy with his current band and life. given the chance he'd probably jump at a few reunion gigs, but that seems outwith his immediate needs and thats different from the way he's acted in the past. naturally any media outlet will centre on the 'reunion story'.
