Geopolitics in 2050

this seems like a good way to foster green room style debates

so what will the world look like in 2050?
will china be a sole superpower, a rival on equal footing with the US or a flop?
will the US fade into relative insignificance or maintain its political and cultural supremacy?
will there be any major wars?
will yemen, somalia or sudan be the next iraq/afghanistan?
will the EU unite or disintegrate?

The US will become socialist which will make the rest of the will love us!

Our president will issue each citizen 3 pairs of blue jeans with no brand name on it and 3 plain white t-shirts.

The rest of our countries resources will get shifted over to Africa and other poor places until finally the world balances out and EVERYONE in the world will have 3 pairs of blue jeans and 3 plain white t-shirts.

Al Queda will see how good a chums we are and will finally stop blowing things up.

Europe will continue to hang on the brink until they finally begin to accept large amounts of cash from Russia and China to bail them out.

Russia and China will form a alliance and help the rest of the world get rid of their nuclear weapons.

The world as a whole will invade Israel, kick all the Jews out and the next day everyone will act like nothing even happened! Millions of Jews will be hunted as sport in Africa and the middle east but we'll never have to be bothered hearing or seeing anything on it because the Jews deserve it and China says "there's nothing to see here".

China and Russia begin to take over the world to which Europe gladly bends over saying that its about time someone else aside America was dominant in power and point out that Americans and Europeans probably deserve this since we never really tried to understand the Chinese and Russians in the past. We obviously drove them to this.

I'd say thats about 99% accurate.

Hmm, global warming will envelop the northern hemisphere causing 3rd world countries to take in their northern... wait thats the day after tomorrow.

The Detroit Lions will be en route to their 40th consecutive superbowl victory...

Ok all joking aside, it is really hard to even speculate with the way technology is moving. I know the war on terror is kind of a ridiculous thing at the moment, but terrorism needs to be rectified, if powerful weapons end up in the wrong hands then the world will probably enjoy a nuclear winter at some point.

China and Russia about the only places still going 'multiculturally'.

Parts of Africa become the richest countries in the world while the rest are the same old mess.

Japan ceases to exist after the overdue Tokyo earthquake cracks it up and what's left is a few small islands.

Massive world wide famines and super plague wipes out most of the Earths out of control populations and nature does the rest.

what happens when russia actually reinvests in its military and begins asserting itself in an orgy of nationalistic fervour? more georgian-style 'interventions'?

what's going to go down in iran even in  the next couple of years? military intervention as a last resort is starting to look somewhat plausible.
