I've been hearing a lot about this on both the news and the internet recently. My honest opinion on the whole thing is they should have the right to build it. Those of you who are against it don't call me a terrorist cause I'm not. No offense, but the people who only should be offended are the people who had family members or  friends die on 9/11. You also have to think about in the Constitution under  Amendments is Freedom of Religion. I wanna see how you guys feel about this issue as its been causing a shit storm lately.

I don't  particularly think it should, or shouldn't. In other words, they obviously have the right to build a house of prayer if they buy the property. Doesn't matter if they're Hindu, Buddhist or Scientologists. Because a minority of people who calls themselves Muslim were terrorists you can't ban a body of millions of people who belongs to this religion from building their house of worship somewhere. Should Christians be banned from building a church in an area where a guy who called himself Christian raped five little girls? Freedom of religion is one of the things this country is built upon, and prides it self on. Anything but not interfering would be unconstitutional. End of story.

Pretty much took the words right out of my mouth there. Every religious (or non-religious) group has it's extremists. You can't judge the whole based on a few. Equal rights and yadda yadda yadda.

the whole issue is a distraction, who gives a fuck.  it keeps your mind off our out of control government and gives the brain dead people out there a topic to discuss that they can actually understand and feel like they can participate.  it's slight of hand.  here, dangle the mosque in retards faces while i pick your pocket with the other hand

RedFox you're a damn terrorist.

:shy:

They have the right to build it true. They have the freedom to build it true.

Also true is that they are insensitive to the feelings of a nation and especially of a city.

Too much shady shit going on here regardless but whats new huh?

Anyway.. here's my man Bob's opinion..

NO MOSQUE at Ground Zero... PERIOD!!!

If they wanna buy the land and peacefully operate the mosque then it should not matter where the fuck they do it. Will they start to ban muslims from nyc altogether because of 9/11.

I sold my van to some guy down by the river...

i put this same debate in the Obama thread. But oh well. Im for their right to build it there - or wherever the hell they want to, i dont think it's an issue at all, to back up what polar said. But there is value to having a topic that most people can understand or at least begin to.

Haha...

A soft hearted, and plain old soft philosopher like you talking about women?

Anyway.. its just true about them being jerks about it. And I'd bet they're also being smug about it. Shouldn't be no big deal for them to build it a few blocks away but of course..

"Oh no.. we bought it.. we have the right to do it" and all that lawyer speak.

Whatever though.. I'm surprised this many Americans even care about it anymore.

How is that lawyer speak? I would classify that as "Average Joe" Speak. And when you buy something, it, most of the time, is yours.

What really bothers me is not that the mosque is being built, but the fact that people have taken issue with it at all.
