How much does a university education cost in your country?
« on: November 10, 2010, 04:09:21 PM »
In honour of the angry students in London, I'd like to know how much an undergraduate degree costs in your country (in either USD, EUR or GBP). Prices per academic year please.

I was in Central London this afternoon, and there were helicopters buzzing around everywhere.

When I went to Uni, it was about £3,000 for one year of study. Didn't need to pay it because my parents are divorced.

going to college is a waste of time in the US, unless you're going to be in medicine or a lawyer or an accountant.  a liberal arts degree is worthless

Oh, that answered his question.

I go to a private institution, ridiculous $24 000 a year in tuition. I get over half of it in an academic scholarship, but it's still bad. I'm transferring out next year, $42 800. But usually private institutions offer decent scholarship to cover a good chunk of the cost, if not no one would be able to afford college. There are merit based academic scholar ships, need based, athletic scholarships etc. I pay for everything myself so I will have debt.  (I got to college in the U.S, btw)

In Norway Uni is virtually free, however the cost of living would leave me with about as much in debt as I will have from doing schoolin here.

That is exactly what I'm trying to do.

No, really, if they don't award me a big fat scholarship, it's obviously not happening, my dad is not Trump.

In Canada (well in Montreal to be more precise as each universities has different costs) it's around 1600 $/ a session (two sessions in a year). Well at least in psychology it's what it's costing lol.

At the moment, around £3,000 per year, though in a couple of years that will rise to more than most people can reasonably afford to pay, or should reasonably be expected to.
