unfortunately propaganda alone isn't enough to make a nation want to go to war, and roosevelt rly wanted us to get into wwII, which is why he left Pearl harbor wide open and helpless to get raped(while serverly taunting japan).  after that, we shifted to almost 100% in favor of fighting the japs.  luckily for roosevelt, hitler declared war on us after that

Interesting theory about the war, but its not as if the whole war from start to finish was some secret plan by the U.S. government. We needed a reason to step in, and it wasnt a moment too soon. How it happened or for what purpose is up for debate. Also lucky for us that Hitler decided the Russians were bad as well.

Also, I thought the propaganda for desert storm worked pretty well, thats about it though.

it's been reported from numerous sources that FDR knew about the attack as long as six to nine months in advance and ordered that it not be prevented

the rest of your post about "some secret plan by the US govt" i hope isn't directed to belittle a statement i never made nor insinuated

Some sources say he knew 2 to 3 weeks before, some say the night before, some say he knew, some say he didnt. Some say the intelligence wasnt enough, or wasnt clear cut. Where is your clear cut definitive source that says FDR ordered his brass not to prevent Pearl Harbor 6 to 9 months before it happened? Not saying its false, but I am saying it cant be proven true.

There is holes all over those theories, why not suffer the loss while having backup soon to follow and obliterate them? If they knew so long beforehand you would think they would find a way not to endanger their pacific fleet in order to rally the troops. And 9 months? You would think the Japs would have altered something in 9 months.

Maybe you werent insinuating anything, but the way you said it made it seem as the U.S. had some devious evil plan to get involved and were willing to sacrifice anything to make it happen, when in all reality it was  just strategy. Also in your previous post you did insinuate, or even better, state, that the U.S. made Nazi's into villains. Just seems like you are comparing that government to what has happened in the past 20 years, when we all know the circumstances were completely different.

it's no secret that fdr had a huge boner to get into the war, even tho the US wasn't needed.  the numerous sources i mention here i can't name off the top of my head, i'd have to google it.  there is no clear cut source if you choose to disbelieve historians who argue it.  ten years ago in college i wrote an essay about it after i read day of deceit.  if you care google advanced knowledge pearl harbor and decide for yourself.

Yea I have done a little reading on it in the past and recently, though I still do not draw the same conclusions you do. I look at it as strategy, and I cannot find any way to convince myself that FDR intentionally had a piece of his pacific fleet wiped out to rally the American people.

I can see the reasoning of a catastrophic event to incite your people, such as provoking a nation to attack, the whole they struck first thing. However, in this case i dont think an event of that magnitude was needed and I cant yet tie enough info together to make me believe FDR waited 9 months to have Pearl Harbor annihilated in order to join the war. I also cant believe that Japan made plans for an attack 9 months earlier, then carried it out in a war of constantly changing fronts and alliances. On top of that it seems strange for intelligence to rely on 9 month old information, or 6 month, or even 2 month.

Do you really think the U.S. wasn't needed?  We were supplying our allies with weapons before we ever even entered the war.

yes i agree that the allies needed our supplies and for the US to manufacture for them.  they did not need our soldiers to go die

Easy to argue that 60 years later from a computer. Hindsight is always 2020, though in this case you still cant say whether or not or soldiers were needed. From my pov the plan worked great, kill hitler/japs, stop evil, make money, be hero, pretty simple. All the little supposed things that went on before and after is just banter.

Yawn.

Disney did a lot of these during wartime to stay afloat and fund Snow White and Bambi...

Goodbye, Blue Sky......... Goodbye.
