The day Slash left it stopped being GNR!
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:58:00 PM »
Slash was the heart and soul of Guns. If you say otherwise it's because you're an ignorant kid who's too young to remember when GNR actually meant something.

Axl - do your last few fans a favor and call this man! We want him back!

i'd say it stopped being guns in 1989 when axl turned into super bitch and started holding the rest of the band hostage on stage

That's a fair argument! Maybe I should have said GNR started to completely blow the day Slash left, but it ceased being GNR when Axl tried to label his best friend an employee.

Good call, Axl! Not a decent song since ...

It stopped being Guns n' Roses on the dreadful day of April 27, 1985 when Rob Gardner left.
You should make your tag line something to the effect of "Kov's realism, shattering idealism everywhere."

This may be news on a Slash forum, but it isn't here. I love the top-hatted one, but unoriginal troll speeches like this bore the living shit right out of me.

However, let me say it stopped being Guns n' Roses when they changed their name to Guns n' Roses.
Take your rehabilitation and drive me to hell.

K, floyd died when barret left, sabbath died when ozzy left, maiden has been through like 7877 lineups, as has megadeth, metallica died when burton died, though Ozzy was a self titled act, shouldnt it be said the music was not the same when rhoads died?

It goes on and on, we all know Guns n Roses was nothing without Axl, for better or for worse, the band never would have existed in the form we knew of or know now without him. Sorry we cant repeat afd and uyi or lies. Let him have it, he has taken all the abuse, all the criticism and hatred over they years where the rest of the band are portrayed as these innocent little 28 year old victims who were brutally overthrown by some all powerful crazy being.

They were adults too when they did what they did. Just as Axl is held accountable for "seizing" the GNR name with some indefensible coux de gras, they should be held accountable for losing control and allowing it to happen, as well as giving it up. You think Axl really wanted to start from scratch again and formulated some master 14 year plan to make it so? He was nuts and they gave up, end of story.

Heres a scenario, what if they kick out Axl and keep the name? What is more of a joke? Its his now, hes done enough to keep it, if you dont like it, do what I do to TImbaland and ignore it.

Yep you're right OSG, but then a new Guns N' Roses began on the brink of the millenium.

Do you honestly think that if Slash and Axl were back together it'd suddenly be the same again?
It'd magically turn back into 1990 and they'd be able to retain their reputation as "most dangerous band in the world"?

They're both almost 50. That's not the vibe anymore.

Yell at Axl all you want, the past is gone, all we've got is the present - might as well enjoy it.

-L!

Goodbye, Blue Sky......... Goodbye.

so axl has pissed on the name for so long and so hard that he ruined what it meant in the first place?  yeah, i'll buy that, can't argue because you're right, he might as well keep it at this point.  he didn't want to have to rebuild a brand based on his individual merits, he felt entitled to play on the coattails of his old achievements with the band so he had to keep the name, it was too much work to start over

ITs a dog eat dog world, he went after it and he got it, without much resistance apparently. He didnt kick anyone out, yet certain members act like little children when they talk about how they had no choice but to give in to the dictator.(Slash, Matt, Steve). The others are fine with it, and dizzy managed to hang around.  Him ruining the band that existed 20 years ago is your opinion, I like what he  is doing as do many more. Music has changed, and I am glad they are not on mtv or in the pop scene anymore.

He couldve sold out a million times for shitloads of cash, so your argument about riding the old bands coattails to continue to be relevant goes right out the window.
