Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot on saturday, and is in critical condition. There are mixed reports regarding how many people died/were shot. Crazy and sad news.
edit: At least five people are believed dead and up to ten were wounded. One of the killed was a federal judge appointed by george bush senior and another was a nine year old girl. The gunman is believed to be a 22 year old named jared laughner

Giffords was also the target of a campaign event advert for her opponent, Jesse Kelly, which invited supporters to fire a gun with the candidate. It read: "Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly".

John Ellinwood, Kelly's spokesman, said he did "not see the connection" between fundraisers featuring weapons and the shooting.

Palin's an idiot but I think the gun target thing is a bit of an overreaction as far as cause/effect.
Hopefully it brings some attention to her poor decision making and she simply goes away.

I don't want this to stoke the fire of politically correctness but hopefully pour some water on the ignorant teapartiers' crusade of intolerance, ignorance, and general bigotry.

i agree with all of what you said, especially about the little girl. her mom was on the radio today, it was horrible to hear. with regards to the tea party, while I wouldn't say they are all 100% bad, racist, bigots, I do think they are too radical.

This shit happens everyday.  I deal with the tears of tragic events that actual exists in MY life or  people close to me.  not to say I don't care what happens to other people...   I was talking about headlining or billboarding 1 incident.

Thing about this shit is it will effect you eventually, like when you go to the grocery store in 3 years and have to get scanned. Thats just how its done, a distant incident turns into an everyday reality. Same as 911, you think any other building will ever get hit by planes? No, but you sure as hell have to get your body scanned if your in omaha, nebraska, whether or not they even have a skyscraper, or if the plane you get into can reach a city with tall buildings. Trust me the us govt is drooling at this oppurtunity because it actually seems this was an individual psychotic act, something they rarely see but always warn us about via watch your neighbors.

Obviously its tough to care about people who never would have thought about caring about you, but the way this shit ends up working out is it will effect everyone. They are already tampering gun laws, not because they are stupid or wrong, but because a politician got shot, and they have the perfect 9 year old poster child to guilt the rest of your vote.
