"Holder's plan was sharply criticized by both Republican leaders and key members of the New York congressional delegation. Among other things, critics cited cost and security concerns tied to a trial in Manhattan. They also argued that the suspects -- who are not American citizens -- should not receive the rights and protections provided to defendants in civilian courts."

What a load of craaaap. This makes no sense. He is not American, so he is not worthy?

Huge waste, and I'm pretty sure you can't convict people without actual evidence, not a bunch of ex girlfriends and hangers on telling the court he did it.
I sold my van to some guy down by the river...

Apparently you can. Since innocent people get death row in the U.S based on some "witness" from years back.

Yea true, this case specifically though. Though its conclusively clear that he juiced, I think his lawyers can smash the credibility of his mistress.

Worth a read. Like I've mentioned before I am doing a semester project on the ethical dilemma of the patriot act...and over a couple of pages I discuss the FISA court (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). They are supposed to be a court dedicated solely to the purpose of Foreign Intelligence wiretapping, and other methods of surveillance applications for warrants, to speed up the process while also ensuring that there is some evidence. It shows how USELESS that court is. More than 95% of the cases pass straight through the court, and I highly doubt that there are over 14 000 cases that all are legitimate and based on reasonable suspicion and fear for national security. Maybe I will post my paper after I'm done with this class.

fisa was put in place solely for the purpose to create this big illusion that the govt actually does something and it is there to justify their own existence

it's one of those laughable agencies/programs/ideas that ranks up there with other unnecessary bloated bureaucratic black holes such as:  dept of ag, dept of education, NASA, dept of labor, the federal reserve, the FCC which censors and controls and don't get me started, the EPA, and my biggest mortal enemy ever... HUD, which is so bad omg nvmd, and ummm the one that enforces drug control

EDIT: The Office of National Drug Control Policy

I just pointed out that the FISA court is a facade. Thank you for restating my opinion in other words.

I am also of course against the Patriot Act. It's a load of crap. Everything it does is say "claim someone is a terrorist, then they have no rights". If the court is of that opinion, it is useless.
