oddly enough amadeus (oh, and my favourite chaplin film turned out to be modern times.)

Most of the rest were decent enough, but special mention goes to V for Vendetta and the pianist for being huge piles of shite.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who hates V for Vendetta.  And Modern Times is brilliant.

Amadeus is pretty wonderful as well, I don't know why it isn't raved about more often as an example of hollywood doing something really good.

What turned you off with Million Dollar Baby? Id say one in 5 I meet seemed unimpressed as well, to me it was brilliant.

For me it sinks under the tears of its mawkish sentimentality.  It's calculated to be as sappy and 'touching' as possible, I almost feel like it was made with the sole intention of being the sort of thing that would appeal to the judges at certain award ceremonies.  I think Clint Eastwood basically emotionally blackmailed the audience, and that's a pretty horrible thing to do.

Just watched million dollar baby. Nemo is right about the mawkish sentimentality. Having a grizzled morgan freeman narrating it was just too much.

Once i polish off The Bridge on the River Kwai i'll be up to 194.

Just to round things off neatly, it was a football injury that started me working through this list and i make my comeback to the game tonight. I especially hope i dont get injured as there arent many good films left to get me through recouperation.

Anyone here fancy updating their score or any newbs want to let us know where you stand?

up to 83 from 73.

Nemo, I see your point about the blackmail, lol, but he did a good job in doing it. Im not one to look to far into those types of things. For me, I went in thinking I was gonna hate the movie, then came out very suprised and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though it may not be everyones cup of tea, you have to admit as far as overall quality, acting, storyline, etc... it blows Scarface out of the water. Good to see the social network is dropping, hopefully it drops off the face of the earth.

Also, does anyone else here think Batman Begins was better than The Dark Night?

Thought V for Vendetta was a cool movie, but always confused me that he somehow has superhuman strength.

150 and I have about ten more on that list downloaded and ready to watch, damn, I feel old. Anyone else remember Alex Cox presenting odd, cult underrated flicks on BBC 2's Moviedrome on a Sunday night? Inglourious Basterds isn't even a good movie never mind top 250 material. Rosemary's baby is also overrated to a degree, I think it is one of those that is remembered more for it's impact upon critics of the time than for its actual substance. Where was King Frat on the list?

how do you score points?  1 pt for every movie on that list i've seen?

click each of the movies you've seen and it'll total them up for you. any less that 83 and you're not allowed seconds on dessert.

No dessert for me -- only 60.   :(

Hope your hamstring is healed, 2Na.  Did you win your first game back?

me either. quite a few have fallen off the top 250 too.

tbf, i never planned on using "i've actually seen 217 of the top 250 movies as decided by the voters on the internet movie database" as a chat up line. rightly too, it seems.

You won't need anymore chat up lines soon, but you're right, if you had needed to, that wouldn't of been a good one.
