i'd only be reiterating what nemo has said, albeit terribly, no doubt.

personally i wouldn't rely on nemo, he makes a statement that i quickly refute, he never comes back again.  i'll take his silence as an endorsement that i'm right.

no please do.  just give me your definition.  then give me three leaders.  then give me three examples.   if you do that, i'll say you have a point and could possibly be right and you'll win

i have no possible way of providing anything, because in my opinion, what you argue doesn't exist.

I've already done all that. If you want to fill your time rereading my posts knock yourslf out. Untill you bring something to the table i'm out.

so maybe you're saying you're a rightist by my standard?  welcome to the club buddy :D  i've provided a clear definition of right and left, it's yet to be disputed.  just saying "hey, that's not what i believe" isn't disputing.  i'd like your scale plx

off the top of my head, 10 ways that the left tries to bring down the standard of living for everyone to make it fair to the "poor"

they want to destroy jobs for millions with carbon taxes, to save the environment based on widely disputed science, the graduated income tax punishes the producers for producing, the teachers unions.... here in IL, out of 95,000 tenured teachers, 7 get fired a year..., the dept of education collect billions upon billions of tax money only to distribute a small portion back to the local schools, the FDA in the US restricts experimental drugs so that desperately ill ppl can't use them as a last ditch effort to live, thus only the rich who can leave the nation can survive.., enacting a minimum wage and maximum wage law drives down standard of living for the poor, opening the border and not booting out illegals lowers the standard, QE2... aka printing money, that lowers the value of the currency and only hurts the poor, limiting human reproduction is a leftist/eugenicist notion done by the left to "save the planet", and affirmative action finally giving us the lowest possible quality of civil servant available

am i at 10 yet?

loads of us did this a while back...http://www.chinesedemocracy.com/forum/index.php/topic,47115.0.html there's a scale, if you like.

im not sure i follow the "bringing down the standard of living to make it *fair* to the poor" thesis at all. Climate change denying is simply a way to keep people buying oil (and other products etc...) and the continuation of an unsustainable life style - maximising profits for the big companies. Most of the policies on your list at a glance appear nonsensical, i agree, but i'm failing to see how this fits your little thesis.

I went to bed.  It was after midnight here.  I get up at 6.20 to go to work every day.  it's 9.10pm now, I only just got home about 15 minutes ago.

And plenty of people have disputed your concept of what's right and left, you just never bother to actually address those criticisms.  In the UK we're pretty swayed by the argument that there is no such thing as the political left any more, just a bunch of centre right parties who want to do away with unions and put a stop to anything that is bad for business leaders.

I think there was a question about who Standard Oil bribed in one of your earlier posts, well i wasn't exactly there at the time, but

"Rebates, preferences, and other discriminatory practices in favor of the combination by railroad companies; restraint and monopolization by control of pipe lines, and unfair practices against competing pipe lines; contracts with competitors in restraint of trade; unfair methods of competition, such as local price cutting at the points where necessary to suppress competition; [and] espionage of the business of competitors, the operation of bogus independent companies, and payment of rebates on oil, with the like intent...The general result of the investigation has been to disclose the existence of numerous and flagrant discriminations by the railroads in behalf of the Standard Oil Company and its affiliated corporations. With comparatively few exceptions, mainly of other large concerns in California, the Standard has been the sole beneficiary of such discriminations. In almost every section of the country that company has been found to enjoy some unfair advantages over its competitors, and some of these discriminations affect enormous areas."

Were the railway companies in public hands at that time?  Unfortunately not, thus it wasn't quite the government they were bribing.  This is, I'd imagine, one of the main reason the federal government launched a suit against them, and an example of why competition and anti-trust laws are a good thing.

This inbuilt assumption that comes out in most of your posts that you are arguing on a higher plane than the rest of the people here is laughable.

i've always addressed the false left/right paradigm.  and using the very scale you're all endorsing, it seems to back up my claim, that's i'm a rightist and you're all leftists.

you need to check history.  standard oil had huge government support to become a monopoly, you need to google why those acts were really passed.  also, i never said the govt owned the railways.  i also stated that it's IMPOSSIBLE for a company in a new industry NOT to be a monopoly

Excuse me sir. I only flunked Psych because I give a ratts ass about rods and cones in your fucking eyeballs and neurotransmitters, this is why I did not devote a minute of my time to study this bullshit. I thought we would be discussing Freud, psych theories & the like, turns out eyeballs and hearing are more important = I leave. The enjoying part of the class was the discussions me n proff would have concerning murderers and torture. Too bad that only gives me personal points.

unknowingly yes.  liberal-statist-lefttards are useful idiots in that regard.  they don't care how it happens, they just want the govt to solve all their problems and all the problems of the helpless.  and of course there will always be someone there to hold them while they cry, tell them that there are ways to live life without risk, there are ways to live a life where nobody fails, just listen to them, do it their way, let them take control, and everything will be ok.

if being opposed to corporate profiteering over human suffering, brutal attacks and efforts to dismantle workers unions, our appalling, unethical, terrorist foreign policy and a whole range of other things of which the outcome is increased/continued human suffering is be a "lefttard" FOR suffering in your eyes then fine.
