True britain is cops shooting drug dealers then stealing tv's? Yanks have rioted before... Who is full of shit? I am so lost. Posh Spice? I think you are buying way too much into stereotypes, most americans understand you dont drink tea under Big Ben all day whilst practicing your superior linguistic skills. Do you actually know 1 American person on a personal level? I am gonna go with no.

The country is doing just fine. If the middle class had joined in with the riots, the country would have been done for. The middle class are the ones keeping this country going at the moment. The fact that none was involved for a political point is a sign that our tired acceptance of a decline in living standards continues.

Cameron knows that keeping the middle class working hard enough to be pissed off but happy enough to have a job is the way out of the economic crisis. He won't respond in the way which is needed. Opportunity will continue to move into the hands well-connected despite such a public show of anger. He'll undoubtedly rebuke the riots in his brusque and arrogant manner while maintaining the status quo because any change represents an admission of wrongdoing on his part.

Well if the one you work with thinks like the way you feel americans think of brits, then he is a douchebag. Douchebags are not exclusive to America, they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and nationalities.

This is a wise philosophy. Well said.

ok but the 'yanks' were the 'Americans'?     :paranoid:

This reminds me, last night my friend had this old school stereo.... the kind with 2 tape decks and detachable speakers (which were a wow factor at one time even though you can move the speaker 2 feet away) and the music sounded great... even enjoyed Greek music. The sound itself just from the radio thru the system.

back on topic,  anyway in (America)...   the southerners call the Northerners 'Yanks'.... you can see my confusion now.  :smirk:

yea!  They have Tea Time, we got Tool Time

n n... with their  flower eating bohemians.  and we got Blue Balls Pennsylvania.       I know a business establishment (biker bar local hangout) in Florida called Stan's in Goodland.  They make a good buck making fun of the 'Yanks'. He put out an album even.  Do a live music show and everybody eats great seafood and drink party and collect 'The Yankee Dollar'... making tourists put their bucks in the hat.   Good times.

Quote
When Stan starts singing "We need the Yankee dollar," women line up to give him money and tell him where they are from. This gives Stan his tip and provides him with more joke material. The last week in January is the Mullet Festival. You wouldn't want to miss that. Stan's is a unique experience, and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon people watching and drinking.

I miss stan's .   Stan is up there. late 80's now...    Think 2Na would be a great replacement.  just where a straw hat... southern draw....  drink whiskey...  cigar here n there and be yourself...   know about boating always helps and fishing.  goldmind :D

and learn the songs
