Nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2012 are in. Guns N' Roses, the Cure, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Eric B. and Rakim, the Spinners, the Small Faces/Faces, Freddy King and Rufus with Chaka Khan are all hitting the ballot for the first time, while previous nominees Beastie Boys, Laura Nyro, War Donovan and Red Hot Chili Peppers also made the cut. The top vote-getters will be inducted on April 14th, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio, home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Artists that released their their first single or album in 1986 or earlier were eligible for this year's ballot. "The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what 'rock & roll' means," said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. "From vocal groups to hip-hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

Many bands – including the Talking Heads, Cream, the Police and Led Zeppelin – have put aside longstanding feuds to perform at the Rock and Hall Fall of Fame induction ceremony. If Guns N' Roses are inducted, the group's longtime fans will certainly be hoping for a reunion. "I have no idea how that's supposed to go," Slash said in a 2010 interview when asked about a Hall of Fame reunion. "If Axl, Duff, Izzy and myself start communicating, it could go one way. It we don't, God knows."

I'll bet Axl shows up...since he's got so much tied up in the band, he IS Guns N' Roses.  He can't just snub it.  Perhaps they will all perform together, but on separate stages..

Do you imagine Axl performing with the current line up at the RnR Hall of Fame? Hahaha! He owns the name therefore (technically) he IS Guns N' Roses. They'll get in, that's for sure.

Edit: I forgot to mention I don't give a damn about the "Rock n Roll HF" since they have inducted countless of shitty bands (that probably not everyone dislikes). I don't think this does anything to GnR since their legacy has been was written a long time ago. I'll still be looking forward to the ceremony to see what happens.

Forza Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses have been nominated for induction to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

They join 15 other finalists for the prestigious ceremony, including The Cure, Heart, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Eric B and Rakim, The Spinners, The Small Faces, Freddy King and Rufus with Chaka Khan.

Some nominees from previous years who didn't make the cut have returned to the nomination list, including Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Laura Nyro and War Donovan.

Votes are cast by more than 500 music industry professionals and musicians. The five acts with the highest number of votes will be inducted to the 27th ceremony on April 14.

"It's a great honor," said former Gn'R guitarist Gilby Clarke when asked about their first ever nomination. "The band deserves it. It was a long time coming."

Acts must have released their first record over 25 years ago to be eligible for the award. The only remaining member of the group from 25 years ago is frontman Axl Rose, after tensions within the band led to members leaving or being "fired" by Axl. He is reportedly still not on speaking terms with guitarist Slash.

What will Slash do if the band are inducted to the hall of fame, when there is still some tension between former members? "We'll cross that bridge when we get there," he said (via Blabbermouth). "If they're gonna pass you over, I don't think it's worth worrying about too much."

I can see it now... Two stages set up: old GNR on one stage (minus Axl) and new GNR on the other stage. Both bands playing at the same time and trying to outshine the other.

I can already see Axl singing with Rene. No I cannot. He is the only artist I've seen doing something for the dolphins being killed (and he even has an Axl impersonator on one of his music videos).
