Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan... Next, Iran, Syria, North Korea. Seems like this is all happening so fast. What is the ultimate endgame here? Has any of this helped anybody? Is there actual prospects of better worldwide circumstances because of these recent changes?

North Korea will never be attacked. They don't have any oil.

True, and they have some sort of diplomacy with China.

The new Libyans will come back to haunt us in about 20 years, just like the Muhajideen, Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Fabio Capello.
To be fair I dont think Saddam ever haunted anybody other than those in his region.

The Muhajideen were funded by the US and Britain during the Soviet led invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. Both the CIA and MI6 funded and trained them to kick the commies out of Afghanistan, and it worked. Osama bin Laden was instrumental in all this. The Muhajideen are believed to have become the Taliban.

Saddam Hussein was funded by the West during the Iran - Iraq war. He was the West's best friend until he started launching scuds on Tel Aviv.

We in the West have a nasty habit of meddling in the affairs of others, and then regretting it later. I'm sure Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya will come back to haunt us.

We in the West do have the nasty habit of meddling in affairs of others.

Let's not forget the Middle East/Greater Middle Eastern region's nasty habit of crying for our help when they need it and then regretting it later, again and again. There's two sides of the story.

You could argue that we "The West" is taking advantage of countries in need, which we are, but they are taking advantage of us when they need us also, the problem is we want to stay after, they want to kick us out. They should learn, and stop accepting funding (which is easier said then done), even since Napoleon invaded Egypt with exclaims that he "respected the Qur'an and the holy prophet Muhammad" before he turned around and fucked them hard. It's a vicious cycle, but they are inviting us back in. Doesn't make what we do right, it makes it easier.

Seems kinda like a take-take relationship that only benefits the people in power or people trying to get in power.

Al Quaida were born out of the Mujahideen, not so much the Taliban, but otherwise yes. Although, when you say, "coming back to haunt US"...? The vast majority of the 'haunting' is carried out BY us, not against us.

Wow. How many little squares can we get inside others?

Basically, Al-Qaeda are recognised as an organisation by the West, and has been coined by the West. That is to say, Al-Qaeda is not a well-organised group of individuals with a centralised control structure. It's a bunch of randoms with a common goal, which is to do whatever it takes to destroy Western imperialism and impose its own rule of Sharia law. Al-Qaeda work on the principle that the West is a predictable philosophy, and when you understand that philosophy, it is easy to attack it. It so happens that all of the randoms work on the principle that they all understand how to damage the West. It is for the West's benefit that we use the term "Al-Qaeda" because it makes us easier to them.

Regarding particular nomenclature, Al-Qaeda are an international group of people who all recognise how to cause terror towards western society. The Muhajideen were the group of partisans fighting the soviet invasion, and the Taliban in Afghanistan are the nearest extension of the Muhajideen.

I'm aware. A better summary is 'a global network of networks'.
