Las Vegas' upcoming New Year's Eve celebration just got a lot louder.

Veteran hard rock band Guns N' Roses has announced it will close out its 2011 U.S. tour with a December 31 show at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel. Tickets start at $95 plus fees and go on sale Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and the Hard Rock box office.

Guns N' Roses went 15 years between albums before releasing the long-awaited Chinese Democracy in 2008. Along with leader Axl Rose, the current GNR lineup includes: DJ Ashba, Richard Fortus and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal on guitar, Tommy Stinson on bass, Chris Pitman and Dizzy Reed on keyboards and Frank Ferrer on drums.

The release accompanying today's announcement promises "a two and a half hour show with all of their hits." Guns N' Roses' best-known songs include "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child o' Mine," "Paradise City," "Patience," "Don't Cry" and "November Rain."

Other scheduled Las Vegas New Year's Eve concerts include Stevie Wonder at the Cosmopolitan and John Legend at the Pearl. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band play Mandalay Bay on December 30.

Twice.

January 1st, 2001 - The new GN'R line-up plays their first show together at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Democracy_Tour :
Axl Rose, Buckethead, Robin Finck, Paul Tobias, Tommy Stinson, Brain, Dizzy Reed, Chris Pitman. first performance in seven years, praised as "a triumphant return" by music magazine Rolling Stone. The band performed a number of new songs, including "Oh My God" (released as a single in 1999), "Riad N' The Bedouins", "Chinese Democracy", "Street of Dreams" [Then known as "The Blues"]

December 31st, 2001 - GN'R plays at The Joint in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Slash wanted to see the show, but was not let in. Doug Goldstein, GN'R's manager, said: "We didn’t know what his intentions were. If nothing else, it would have been a distraction. Axl was really nervous about these shows. We decided on our own not to take any risk." Setlist included Oh My God, Madagascar, Silkworms, Chinese Democracy.

Both pretty historic and eventful shows...

I was at the Dec 29th show of the Joint in Hard Rock hotel...  I didn't like it..  And then of course I heard the Dec 31st one they killed it.  It was still fun though and Vegas during New Years is a blast in itself.

2000 and 2001?

No, that was the House of Blues show.   Why does no one remember these shows?  There were two, one on Dec 29 2001 and the other on Dec 31 2001 playing into Jan 1 2002 at the Hard Rock Hotel/The Joint.  I was at the Dec 29 show, on the 31st I hung out on the strip to ring in the new year.

Here is a link showing pics from those shows.
