Big news, Van Halen fans! After much speculation over a possible release date for their much-anticipated new album, the Van Halen News Desk is now reporting a Feb. 7 arrival for the comeback disc.

The album, which despite rumors will not be titled ‘The Future,’ will be preceded by a single and video set to premiere on Jan. 10. The band recently shot footage for the video at Los Angeles’ the Roxy — the same shoot also resulted in the tour promo videos that were discovered online the day after Christmas. Keep checking back for the big reveal on the album’s actual title.

Also on the Van Halen calendar: on Jan. 3, the band’s itinerary (cities and dates) for the first wave of its upcoming tour will be announced. As previously reported, Jan. 10 will also see the first round of tickets for the tour go on sale.

Meanwhile, a Feb. 8 drop date has been announced for the Japanese edition of the album, and that release will be available in a special limited-edition deluxe package, complete with a bonus DVD. So, don’t be surprised if a deluxe edition is also available in the States.

The album will be the first with singer David Lee Roth in nearly 30 years, and the backing tour is expected to be one of the biggest treks of 2012. Stay tuned to Ultimate Classic Rock for all the latest on Van Halen, as more news and information is expected to surface frequently.

This just in: Van Halen have announced full dates for their North American tour in support of their new album, which is titled ‘A Different Kind of Truth.’

The trek will kick off Feb. 18 in Louisville, Ky., and run through a June 26 show in New Orleans. The tour announcement came just minutes after the band played an intimate set at New York CIty’s Cafe Wha? nightclub (check back with Loudwire soon for our review of the show).

‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ due out Feb. 7, will be preceded by the first single ‘Tattoo’ and its accompanying video on Jan. 10. The album will mark Van Halen’s first full-length studio disc with singer David Lee Roth since ’1984.’

The Van Halen news just keeps turning up this week, and now we’ve got information to share on two songs from their upcoming album ‘A Different Kind of Truth.’

As we already told you, the band debuted a new/old song from the record, ‘She’s the Woman,’ during their fantastic New York City club show last night.

According to the always helpful Van Halen Encyclopedia, the song was first recorded by the band in 1977 for their Warner Brothers demo sessions. However it has not appeared on an official Van Halen album until now.

You can now see fan-shot video footage of the Cafe Wha? performance of the song, and compare it to the original version. Obviously, the song has mutated a bit over the last 35 years.

For one thing, they had to replace the pre-solo guitar riff because they used it on ‘Mean Street,’ the opening track of their 1981 album ‘Fair Warning.’ Also, Michael Anthony’s distinctive background vocals and bass playing has been replaced by the work of Eddie’s mega-talented son Wolfgang.

We’ll all get a chance to hear a second song from ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ next Tuesday, Jan. 10 when the first single ‘Tattoo’ arrives. However we can take a quick look at the single art today. It features the same red and white color scheme as the train image — supposedly NOT the album cover, but related to it — that’s been turning up on Times Square billboards and other places lately. Gotta say, it looks like Van Halen is a band with a plan lately!
