Slash Is Ready to Put Old Animosity to Rest

Guns N' Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. The ceremony is slated for April 14 and many rock fans are wondering if the band's classic 'Appetite for Destruction' lineup will reunite for the special occasion.

The drama between vocalist Axl Rose and Slash has been well documented, but the guitar hero is apparently getting nostalgic for the good old days. Slash recently waxed poetic in a recent interview with Esquire magazine.

"When I see footage of Guns N' Roses, I see that f---ing hunger and attitude. You could not f--- with those five guys. It was just raw. It was this lean, hungry thing on its way up. It was as sincere as any rock 'n' roll that I've ever heard, and I'm proud of that. The split between Axl and I was a quiet one. But because there was so much attention on the break-up - and are we going to get back together - it got built up into this monster that led to a kind of animosity that wasn't the focus for me. Neither one of us wants to be down each other's throats for no reason. At this point, I'm trying to put it to rest."

So will Slash and Axl let bygones be bygones? Well maybe. Rose recently admitted to having mixed emotions about the Rock Hall... but "doesn't want to spoil it for everybody else."

If the 'Appetite for Destruction' era band does reunite, it will be the first time in over two decades that they've performed together.

It was Axl that called Slash a cancer.    Thats a pretty awful thing to say about the same man who you personally thanked for the solo on Estranged.
Just because your winning don't mean your the lucky one.

Slash is always the poor innocent little lamb, offering his bit of drycleaned revisionist history.

There are countless instances through the years, right up to when the Axl forum chats seemed to shut him up a bit, where he can't resist taking sly petty shots. Even while he was in the band!

Eg. Last major interview with Slash before he left GN'R... be warned, it's cringeworthy. Not so subtle here - one can fairly surmise that he must have thought he was like Keith to The Stones or something and would always be needed. It's shocking how casually he spills to the press about stuff that should really stay within a band, making everyone concerned look ridiculous. Never the most self-aware individual, he can't admit that he does anything wrong.

It's easy to appear to offer an olive branch when he knows it'll never be accepted.

They are both in the wrong and are both stubborn. If they don't reunite for this show, they will NEVER reunite.

Slash has worked with countless artists over the years and no one, I mean no one, ever talked trash about Slash. He is a father of 2 beautiful kids, he is married for about 10 years with the same wife and he has many friends.
Axl on his side, well...

It seems clear to me that one of them has more social skills than the over. I don't blame Axl for that though, I'm just saying. He is what he is, we are free to love or hate him, there's nothing wrong with that. But it's obvious that Slash is easier to work with.

Slash is also a working machine and it certainly was a problem for Axl who likes to take his time. You may like his work or not, but look at what Slash has done since old GN'R. Countless collaborations, Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, Solo, touring, touring, touring and touring. He is obviously very very busy.

Interviews, well... journalists write what they want to write. Axl doesn't do any interview because it's such a pain in the ass when the paper is out and it doesn't reflect reality anymore. Interviews are just something you have to use when you got something to promote, but it should never be used to talk about private life and personal problems, that's trash journalism.

None of us were there...always two sides to every story.  Slash and Axl are probably both equally to blame in one way or another.  Who's side you want to believe is probably whether you're a fan of Axl or Slash.

Personally, I would love nothing more than to see a this  performed at the RnR HOF:

Current GNR plays a song.
Old GNR comes stage  and plays a song.
Then all members up on stage ripping through Paradise City with all the confetti flying...I would be going ape over seeing 20 former/current GNR members ripping Paradise to shreds!

i love the new band BUT they have  nothing to do with Appetite lies or illusions etc.. so i think that the old lineup should play couple of songs and be proud of each others work then of course the new line up can sit in front row watching it.

Considering the reputation ALL frontmen have for dickery, chances are good.
