L'Attrape-cœurs (that's the Catcher In The Rye in translation)

First book I've actually read in French apart from the Le Petit Nicholas ones we had to read at school.  Good place to start I guess seeing as i know the story in English so well.  Pathetically it took me about 3 weeks to get through.  But happily I still thought it was awesome and it still made me laugh fairly often in another language.

It's not the last book I've read, but I've picked up my Douglas Adams collection again, due to the brain-bashing effects of preparing for my roman law exam... Has anyone read "The Salmon of Doubt" by him?

It's basically a collection of articles and essays, interviews, letters and such. Most are just genuinely funny, but there are some great philosophical pieces in there. And an unfinished Dirk Gently novel. But it's a great seed of thoughts.  :)

The last book I read is Macbeth. I try to read as many books in English as I can but man, reading Shakespeare in English is a big pain in the ass. Twisted sentences, a lot of metaphors and I have to stop frequently to look for words in the dictionary because certain words have a different meaning than the one they had in Shakespeare´s time.
I read it in Spanish too and I enjoyed it a lot more obviously lol
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My girl and I are reading and sometimes re-enacting some scenes in the "Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by Anne Rice.

Very deep book with a different feel for the classic story.

On my own though I'm reading the 5th book in the Chronicles of Counter Earth series. Strongly recommended for gentlemen everywhere.

Finally got to reading 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khaled Hosseini. One of the books on my ever long 'to read'-list.

Such a brilliant story.. I liked the Kite Runner, but this was even more astonishingly beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved it.

the butt - will self.

didnt do it for me and completely falls apart at the end. he manages to successfully juggle a few ideas (treatment of aborigines, smoking, guilt) and raises a few interesting idea but the actual story itself was painful and only connected with one or two minor characters whilst i was pretty ambivalent towards the lead. i like self tho, so i'll persevere with more of his work.

oh, and i'm 3/4's of the way through 'money' by martin amis. enjoying it alot. the lead is such a shit. brilliant.

finally finished hitch 22, an autobiography, it was ok

took me a long time to get through it, it's not a difficult read at all, just pretty boring with all the name dropping and an annoying author, but i ended up reading the chapters out of order and somehow that made it better
