HEY ASSHOLES!

What's your fuckin' problem with Steve Vai?

Buckethead will never be able to play as good, clean, and fast as Mr. Vai!
Not speaking 'bout the songwriting abilities... Buckethead's records are dissonant, and messy, and... He can't perform them live in a normal way... So don't mess with Steve Vai!

Listen to this record: http://www.epilespaul.fw.hu/02.mp3

This is Steve's message for you.

nice first post i agree with you completely

Vai is nothing but a freakin guitargymnast. Buckethead is eons ahead of him both as a songwriter and as a guitarplayer. So are dozens of other great guitarplayers out there.

Some of the things said in this thread about Buckethead are so ignorant and dumb that I immediately understand why these people like Vai (but calling people names in your first post is also a good indicator of such matters). Let Vai write an album like Colma or PO then he might have a chance, but running up and down the fretboard for years in row with no other intention but showing people your kickass chops is not the stuff true virtuoso's are made off.

Put your fantastic mr. Vai in a jazzcombo or some other higher form of music were the amount of raw talent and improv. skills dominate the quality of a gig, he would choke in an instant. Buckethead plays almost every style out there, that alone says it all.

wow did you read my posts in this thread!!!!  it says everything he does is to serve the song i have an entire magazine on... and if you have ever seen him live you would know that most of his songs he does on improv. he never hits a sour note... ever hear of G3 most of that was all improv.

know your facts first

Yes, sorry, that really wasn't a nice introduction, but I saw this topic, anf it made me really angry, I'm not an animal like that generally :)
You should make your tag line something to the effect of "Kov's realism, shattering idealism everywhere."

Vai is a self-loving guitargymnast and his tribute to the G3 wankfest only underlines it even more. G3 has nothing to do with improv. my friend. You should at least know that. Do you even know what improv. means (real improve. like in jazz?)? Nothing is spontaneous or fresh about the whole deal. G3 is as scripted as a Disneyride, with only minor room for improv. I saw Vai live and have seen my share of G3 performances to know what I’m talking about.

I have been studying instrumental guitarmusic and virtuosos for years now. So please don’t start questioning my knowledge in the thread where it's you who needs a magazine article to justify your fantasies about mr. Vai. Nice opinion you have there! The only thing Vai’s technique serves is his ego, certainly not the songs. It’s a commonly known fact that Vai is not a great songwriter.

At least I’m not hiding behind some magazine-article. The next time you are going to say something that ignorant, you could at least try to fake a stroke.

LOL, but nonetheless you were happy to jump in on the bandwagon. Seems to me that somebody is a little bit worried that he’s running out of ignorance â€"driven irrelevant arguments.
