Has anyone ever read it? People(Geezer Butler, Nikki Sixx, Blackie Lawless) say its fucked up and it shouldn't be touched but I dunno....its intriguing. It sounds like some old hippy shit

The Necronomicon is a great tail of fiction writen by HP Lovecraft and made it's way in to the sub culture via the way of the Evil dead films.

HP lovecraft wrote this to help explan some of his stories however, people took it out of context and actually beleave in it. Quite funny if you ask me.

I really love you.

"The Necronomicon is the most celebrated mythical book invented by HPL. It was first cited by name in "The Hound" [1922]; Abdul Alhazred was first mentioned in "The Nameless City" [1921].
In "History of the Necronomicon" [1927] HPL provides a tongue-in-cheek history of the volume.

- S.T. Joshi.

You would benefit so much more from reading H.P. Lovecraft's works.

Start with The Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow out of Time and The Lurking Fear.

He's my most favourite writer.

I could easily provide you with a link if you want. Those stories are simply horrifying and realistic.

After reading The Lurking Fear I decided to stay away from my HP Lovecraft collection for at least a week.

I'd be honoured ! :cheesy:

I've listed them in this order because though Call of Cthulhu is his most admired work, I think Lurking Fear is probably his best ever.

The Lurking Fear

The Call of Cthulhu

The Shadow out of Time

Dreams in the Witch-house

I just finished this one today -

The Dunwich Horror

Brilliant.  :)

When looking through the list I just felt like linking them ALL,
but if you read these and want more I'll pick out some more.

ENJOY !

I've only read the Lurking Fear so far...man, that was some weird shit!!!! Loved it though..Very inspiring. Attention to detail is great.

I'm suprised no one has thought of doing a concept album on the works of Lovecraft. That would rule...I need to get writing

Sadly, Cradle of Filth have done this, and there's a band called Lurking Fear  whose back catalogue is "inspired" [stolen] from Lovecraft's work.
