maiden kicks serious ass and they are probably technically better except for mcbrain(who kicks ass) and bonham(who is a god) but they didn't really pioneer the sound like zeppelin did

Zeppelin rocks for sure but I do think that lots of people worship everything they do for the sake of ... well they SHOULD like them. Seriously - do you like Moby Dick? honestly? I can't fucking stand it!

Actually the first two albums did have a lot of stuff from older American Blues artists but they were not direct ripoffs.  Sometimes they were just single vocal lines from other songs or just certain sections.  More often than not those were Page's own riffs built around those older songs.  Zep never directly ripped off other songs...they had a lot of their own ideas thrown in and frequently when they were done the song was not even recognizeable from the original.  

I love Led Zeppelin.  For the Zep fans def check out the Led Zeppelin DVD (thats what its called).  I think it came out maybe 3 years ago and it's amazing.  It's light years above Song Remains the Same.  TRUST ME>

Bollocks. Opinions are not infallible. Beethoven's Fifth is simply a better peice of music than twinkle twinkle little star. The same goes for zep over maiden.

I'm not saying you have to like them over maiden, but they make better music.
