The only one i've played on is a mexican strat, one of my friends, it's a very nice guitar. And he chose it over an american one because of it's tone. Strat's sound VERY sexy on clean. Not so good on distortion/overdrive but still do the job.

Hmmm.

Get one with a humbucker in the bridge so you get some nice distortion.

If I saw anymore, I'll end up trying to convince you to get a Les Paul cos of the sexy sweet tone.

Opps. Already have.

Roll roll roll yer joint, twist it doon the end, take a puff that's enough pass it tae a friend.

I'm actually starting to like those distorted single coil tones now...Hendrix..fucking Blackmore..

But for metal....put a humbucker in there..or Hotrails like Maiden do...

i already have a schecter c-1 black jack which isn't exactly a les paul but it is similar so thats why i am looking into a strat, i'm trying for some new tones.  bucketsixx made a good point it does sound pretty good on those single coil distortions as well.  i guess i am just going to have to check out some at the guitar store

The BSM series is fucking slammin' ...but very expensive.

Theres loads of different kinds of treble booster....Gilmour used an orange treble boost...identical to this...

i played one - yeah, its great, the thing what makes them cheaper is the finish... its not shiny as for example a les paul - its just kind of more "rough" and wooden than you normally see the strat finishes - so Fender saves money there, but all in all, its a great guitar...

They work great with humbuckers....I ended up getting a rangemaster clone off ebay.  Sounded great with my Sound City...but absolute turd with my new tweed amp, so I don't use it any more. Maybe they only sound good on British style amps?

Well if history repeats itself...    right... British style amps were dark and is the basis of TB's far as I know.

Analogman's Beano and well known clones are so $$$.  And then I see clone kits to make your own for like 30 bucks that are supposed to be based off the Rangemaster.  Besides the uranium transistor...  what is the difference?  Maybe I'll get a kit and slap in a NKT 275 transistor

    This is a sunface below.  How hard can it be to make one?

http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/ad186/chadizzles/Pedals/SUNFACE/SF3.jpg

Pedals, I have a wah pedal here at home :D
But still, pretty hard to make,
I once tried to fix a pedal myself
dind't work out well :(

But back on topic:
Strat guitars, haven't played on it much, only in the guitar shops,
But they play nice,
I think the strats are more the guitars for the "new generation" pop music.
It gives it more that feeling and that flat sound that you espect with that kind of music
But I'm more the "Jazz guitar" guy (which is obvious when I'm following a Jazz school in Rotterdam)
I got here at home 10 guitars (it were 11, but the last guitar is at my grandma's place xD )
Most of them are acoustic, the gipsy models
any one heard of Django Reinhardt? Or: Rosenberg Trio?
That kind of models I have :D
And my electric guitar model is: Godin 5th Aveneu.
Really nice Jazz/blues guitar, has a good sounds with its P90 element.
And I also have, an epiphone Les Paul, yes I don't have enough money to buy an Gibson, but I'm not really interested in the Gibson Les Paul, I'm more interested in the Gibson ES 335 for the Jazz tone,
Or an Gibson L5 :D
