Iraqi Elections...Fraud?

How about some good news for a change?

Iraq: 99 Percent of Voting Was Valid

BAGHDAD, Iraq -
Iraq's electoral commission ruled Monday that more than 99 percent of the ballots from the Dec. 15 parliamentary elections are valid, opening the way for a new government to start coming together.

Final election results have been delayed by fraud complaints mainly lodged by the Sunni Arab minority, and groups looking for a political edge in dealing with the Shiite Muslim majority could still make further protests and hold up the naming of new leaders for two or three months.

Iraq's electoral commission announced it was throwing out votes from 227 ballot boxes because of fraud, a tiny percentage â€" less than 1 percent â€" of the total vote that shouldn't affect the overall results.

"These boxes will not have an affect on the preliminary results that we issued last month," said Adel al-Lami, general director of the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq.

Iraqis voted at about 6,200 centers across the country Dec. 15, and there were an average of five ballot boxes at each. So 227 ballot boxes would be about two-thirds of 1 percent of the total vote, which was estimated at about 11 million ballots.

Good to see all that bs about it being fixed put to rest. And since for some reason people on these boards only like posting NEGATIVE shit or their personal opinions, The Icon has taken it upon himself to spread some legit goodness.

Rock on Iraq. IRAQI DEMOCRACY IS NOW. ;)

Last time I looked that was the point of the forum, "The Icon".

Also it's comforting to see you genuinely care about the future of the Iraqi people, just like your ethically aware president. Who needs peace and security when we've got you both.

The man Bush admitted that intel was wrong on that. But it is a fact that Saddam was looking for means of making them AND that he did use them on his own people.  Everyone knows that the boy Saddam was no good for his people. 11 million who turned out to vote believe so. We went in on wrong info but all the the info that has been proven fact is good reason enough to have taken him out and give the people there a chance to create their own fate.

Nothing against talking about what you think, but when all people do is talk about how negative they feel about everything that is being down in the middle east it becomes a bit one sided. I've always pointed out how I feel about things as well but this time I'm just going to post some good facts and reports.

Is everything ALL good down there? No. But a LOT of progress has been made and the VAST majority of the people like the new found life they now have thanks to the US and our allies.

You talk about genuinly careing about these people when you oppose whats happened down there.  Can you imagine how it felt to live under Saddam if you were just a regular citizen? If he wanted to bang you or your daughter it was done. If he wanted to kill your husband, it was done. Is that how you feel the people of Iraq should have been left to live?

All this nonsense about oil. The US has not benefitted at all from doing what we have done. We've lost billions of dollars and a shit load of lives. However, once Iraq becomes a democracy and becomes an ally against terrorist, and if that chain spreads you will THEN see a safer and more peacefull middle east.  And thats what the goal is no?  Peace? How could you not support that...?

Have fun getting rid of the atleast thirty or so other dictators around the world who are bad for their people.

Or do you only remove governments when you feel like it?

I've no problem with america cleaning up naughty foreign governments but its wrong to be selective.

This is what I like it to come down to. 'If you're going to do it there you should do it everywhere.' Thats the argument a lot of people go to when there are no more straws to grasp at...yet they also feel that the US and its allies should stay out of everyones business, but thats cool. I really wish we could do this for everyone who needs it.

Doing it for Iraq and Afganistan not only helped the people but it also gave the West a critical foothold in the middle east with a new ally in the war against terror. A year from now (hopefully) Iraq will be 100% independant and helping us run all kinds of missions to stop terrorist movement.

That would never have even been thought of 6 years ago. The US and its allies are not against other types of government, but against terrorist. Iraq was a HUGE safe haven for these groups thanks to a corrupt leader who harbored, supported and encouraged them.

where do you get this stuff?  From what I understand & from people I talk to including people who live in the ME & lived in Iraq tell me it's far worse & it's a ticking time bomb. I think you are playing to a far bigger puppet show & career politicians & that is so Un-American.

You can go on about what you hear my friend. I'm telling whats reported as fact. As stated before 11 million (11,000,000) Iraqi's turned out for the vote. That says that 11 million (11,000,000) people there are happy with the way its going and are doing their part to have input in their country's future.

Does everyone like it? No. Of course not.  Terrorist hate it.

You know who else seems to hate it? People like you who no matter what is reported or what advances have been made for the good of the people ALWAYS have to bring up some political nonsense or theory simply because you dislike the leadership in America or even your own country.

I'm not talking left or right here.

I don't know where you're going with the last two questions though... If they were meant as some kind of fuel for an insult you really should stick to the subject and cut the bullshit.

If you want to get personal and ask me stuff to compare life stats we can do that in the Jungle but for the Green Room I'd rather keep things on a pro level.

Ok so the majority of America dislikes or disapproves our president & the situation, far more than 11 million. That includes 98-99% of Afro-American people in the country (a stat that amazes me). Terrorist hate it? hahahaha....  People don't aprrove of the way things are being done!

You know who else seems to hate it? People like you who no matter what is reported or what advances have been made for the good of the people ALWAYS have to bring up some political nonsense or theory simply because you dislike the leadership in America or even your own country.

Don't tell me what I hate & don't hate ... you don't  have a clue & I gave no theory. but you seem to think I should be impressed? Impressed with all the killing & all the money loss & all the suffering for a paper ballot box?? Under a gun & failed war? Our current Homeland Security situation & lack of? I'm not impressed... not even a little .. I would be a fool to rationalize all that was/is lost for a fucking ballot box that won't matter anytime soon compared to our crimes.

I don't know where you're going with the last two questions though... If they were meant as some kind of fuel for an insult you really should stick to the subject and cut the bullshit.

hold up .... I"m just asking. The comment of Iraq will be on its own doing all good in a year is beyond optimistic. Even retarded. It makes me think you were away or grown up in a country with no TV & grown up elsewhere not knowing how things used to flow. Knods head....  America is great yah yah.. the beautiful... land of the free...  land of oppurtunity & nothing more... nothing less....  Yes some people are very uninformed & I was fishing for the source of disillusion that is blocking.

Yet another fall back you guys have. So the dude isn't the perfect politician and not robotic all the time.  I like that the dude shows that he's human. A lot of people seem to get off on pointing out Bush's mistakes here and there and yeah it might even be funny sometimes but its become almost vicious. Its a nice little diversion to win you a few chuckles though. Good going.

Not going into detail on your "out of left field" approach to the topic but here are some bits...

98-99% of afro americans disapprove of anyone who is white. Being straight up, most blacks are poor and living off welfare. At least 70%. Anyone who is poor and lives off of welfare disapproves of anyone 'republican' because they feel that its all about the rich man stealing from the poor defensless poor.

Lack of homeland security?  How many terrorist strikes have succeeded since 9-11 my friend?

Failed war? Lets see here...

We went to war because:

1- We thought Saddam had WMD's. / Alright. You got me there. :>

2- To take a tyrant out of office. / Mission Complete.

3- To help Iraq build rebuilt and repair its war damaged streets. / Succeeding and almost complete.

4- To help Iraqis create their own democratic government where the people both Shiite and Suni feel alright with voting on elected officials. / Mission Complete.

5- To create an ally in the middle east to help us fight the war on terror. /  Mission Complete.

6- To help Iraqis rebuild their military and police forces so that they can defend themselves and we can begin to tranfer military power back to them. / Mission Complete. We have not pulled out yet, but we have already begun giving Iraqis control of our military bases built there and moving our troups further back.

7- To give Iraqis a chance to walk the streets and exchange political views without being jailed, killed and tortured. / Mission Complete.

Its not done, not at all...but as I said earlier, its getting there. The Iraqi government, their military and most important their citizens are responding really well to all of the possitive changes that have come thanks to the US and Ally actions in their country.

A year might be far fetched. But a lot of people also said that Iraq would not have a successful election when it was planned either.  The progress there is amazing and I feel I'm in the right to hope that Iraq will be MUCH more independant come this time next year.
